Introduction
They were seemingly perfect for each other.
Both hungry for knowledge and power.
Finding each other so familiar and alike,
Yet still intrigued by the small differences they shared.
The bond that welded them together was just sort of perfect.
But things aren't meant to be perfect,
Things are meant to be honest and true.Chapter one
"He stepped down, trying not to look long at her, as if she were the sun, yet he saw her, like the sun, even without looking."
Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
I remembered these lines everytime I saw her, Sophie flynn was not only my sun, she was the sun, the moon, the stars and everything in between.
I've never been the type to stare, nor the type who'd be willing to have friends or start a conversation with someone, but when it comes to her... God, I really wish she'd just look at me and notice that I'm there.
As the literature lesson was being explained, I watched her, she was doodling in her notebook, her fingers were holding the pencil as her hands repeated the same lines, golden hair strands were covering her angelic face as she drew, she had light freckles on her nose and on her pink tinted cheeks. her green eyes were fixed on the paper never leaving it,
She looked so peaceful.
So beautiful.
No one should interrupt....
My thoughts were interrupted by the loud bell rings indicating the end of the last lecture today, more specifically, indicating the end of continuous gazing at sunshine.
"Mr. Rinehart" Mr. Larsson called out while I was making my way through the crowd of students to leave.
"Yes, Mr. Larsson.. is there anything wrong?" I asked.
He waited for all the students to get out of class then closed the door behind him.
"No no, not at all!" He answered. "in fact, I just want a very small favor from you..." his face looked apologetic for a second before he continued.
"Ookaaay?" I said unsure, I knew I wouldn't like what he's going to offer next.
"Set down son." He said calmly. I know what he's doing.. he's collecting his thoughts, trying to tell me his offer in the best way possible so I'd accept.
So I sat down.
Looking at him, he looks serious, his blue eyes are fixed on my face, he wouldn't take no for an answer.
step one; he's going to compliment me, step two; he's going to complain about the situation and tell me how he works hard to fix it and I'm his only hope. Step three; he'd throw the problem at my face and tell me to deal with it and that there's no going back from the decision.
