"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars"
- Oscar Wilde

Nathan

Alexia's notes should have made sense, but it didn't.  Most of the words were written in acronyms and names of people just trailed off, ending with some loops.

Honestly, how does she manage to get straight A's with this kind of notes?

I mean, I get the fact that I didn't ask for her permission to take her Economics notebook today but I had no choice, tomorrow was the quiz and I straight up did not want to end up like David who just shows up in class like-'Oh, there is a quiz today for which I didn't study? I will just walk out of this class.' As terrible as I sound, I wanted to pass out senior year with some decent grades.

I heard my phone ringing.

Frustrated, I reached for my phone still holding Alex's notebook.

The screen flashed an unknown number. I swear if David played that prank on me by making a fake tinder account of mine and made me talk to 15 girls (again) who instead of saying 'Hello', questioned-"Are you actually Nathan Trembley?"
No, I am a unicorn walking on a rainbow, happy?

"Hello?"

"Listen to me you as*hole. Just because you have to feed your big man ego that does not mean-"

"Hey there Alex. Long time no see." I could feel her frustration radiating out of the screen.

"I swear I will make sure that you won't live to see the next day if you don't return my notebook to me, right now!"

"Let me explain!"Normally I would have asked her what she was talking about then proceed to tease her, but that would just waste my time.

"You have one minute."

"I had not made my notes and asking David would not have helped at all."

"You could have asked for my permission," she said in a monotonous voice.

"Don't you remember? You had gone to the washroom and never came back." I reminded her. " When all of us left, Sophie had to take your bag."

There was silence on the other line.

"Besides if I don't have the actual book and took pictures from your notes, I would not have understood a thing."

"So," she drawled," have you copied the notes or something?"

I looked at my notebook on the desk with the notes and points I managed to write along with a few doodles which were too good that I could not erase them. "Kinda."

"Fine," she replied." Return the notebook, today."

I was a little hesitant. Returning the book meant going out of the house and personally delivering it to her.  I feel lazy to even walk out of my room.

"I saved you from drowning, remember?"
"Nicholas had saved me," she answered. "Thank you for assisting me and all but...are you jealous?"

"Why would I be j-jealous?" Great work, Nate. Smooth.
"That stutter gave away everything Trembley."
"Shut up, Jones."
I heard her laugh." Boys are so dumb."

"That's sexist!" I retorted and her laugh decreased until I probably believe she is smirking.

I felt my lips tugged up. "Listen we will have a truce."

"Bold of you to assume that I'll agree."

"You are home, right?"

"No, I am jogging."
