Unexpected Love (Nia and Tess// Raven's home)

Chapter 8

Nia finally realized that she's in love with her best friend Tess. Everything makes sense now: the jealousy, the blushing, the fluttering feelings. It all falls into place. And apparently, Tess feels the same.

She started to reflect on everything that has happened since. Why she was so anxious at the Halloween school party, why she felt jealous when Tess was with other girls, why she always found herself thinking about Tess whenever kisses were involved.

She decided to confide in her mom, seeking her advice on how to handle the situation.

"Mom... I think I understand what you were trying to tell me last time."

"Finally! It took you a while, sweetheart."

"You knew?"

"Of course I knew. I'm your mom. I saw it long before you did. Plus, Chelsea came to talk to me after a conversation with Tess... She wasn't entirely sure, but she had her suspicions."

"So, what should I do?"

"What do you mean? You love Tess and she loves you. I think what you should do is pretty crystal clear..."

"Is it?" asked a puzzled Nia.

"You take after your father too much," mumbled Raven.

"What-"

"Never mind," Raven said with a forced smile. "Go talk to her, Nia. Tell her how you feel. Let your heart speak."

"Yes, you're right-"

"Of course, I'm right. I'm an adult," Raven interjected.

Nia simply rolled her eyes and retreated to her room.

"You're welcome, Nia," Raven called out loudly, making sure Nia heard her.

Nia felt more determined than ever. She was ready to confront Tess and her feelings.

At lunchtime, Nia waited for Tess by the exit door, feeling incredibly nervous. She wasn't sure how to handle this, what to say, or how to let her heart do the talking. Before she could gather her thoughts, Tess walked through the door.

"Tess! Tess!" called out Nia.

Tess simply rolled her eyes and quickened her pace.

"Leave me alone," Tess said, avoiding Nia.

"Come on, Tess! We need to talk... It's important," pleaded Nia.

"Oh, really? We've already talked, Nia, and you made yourself pretty clear. There's nothing left to discuss," Tess retorted.

"No, it's-" Nia began, but Tess interrupted.

"No, leave me alone. I'm done, Nia," Tess declared. "We're done."

And with that, Tess walked away.

Heartbroken, Nia stood there watching Tess leave, realizing just how much she loved her and how desperately she didn't want to lose her.

She felt more determined than ever. She wanted Tess more than anything. She was finally ready. Ready to pursue the love of her life. Ready to win Tess back.
