Unexpected Love (Nia and Tess// Raven's home)

Chapter 1

Halloween Party

A Halloween party was taking place at school. Nia, Tess, Booker, and Levi were all attending. Nia dressed as a shark to match her date, Miles, who was attempting to be a surfer. Tess dressed as a horse, while Booker and Levi dressed as matching cereals.

Nia and Tess arrived at the party and joined their friends Zeena and Sienna. However, Zeena and Sienna were skeptical of Nia's claim that Miles was her date, thinking Nia wasn't cool enough to have a date at all.

While Tess left the small gathering to get some food, Miles appeared and made his way toward Nia. She had been smiling since she saw him enter. When he arrived in front of her and kissed her on the cheek, Nia's friends were stunned. Nia decided to take the lead with the introductions.

"Guys, this is Miles, my boyfriend. Miles, these are Zeena and Sienna, my friends," she said, introducing them with a smile, and they smiled back.

Meanwhile, Tess returned with food and vaguely greeted Miles, not paying him much attention, while sharing the food with her three friends.

As time passed, Miles and Nia grew closer, eventually leaving the group to be alone together. Tess watched from the corner of her eye, noticing how Miles whispered to her best friend and how she smiled while adjusting her hair. Jealousy filled Tess's stomach, and the atmosphere around her seemed to grow hotter, the world becoming blurry and darker. She had trouble breathing and decided to step outside.

When she opened the school doors, the fresh breeze hit her strongly, sending shivers through her body. But it felt refreshing. She sat down on the stairs, observing nature around her—the birds in the trees, the stars in the sky, and a few nocturnal animals crossing the street. It was silent but peaceful. She closed her eyes, allowing her thoughts to wander.

After a while of chatting, smiling, and giggling, Miles and Nia rejoined their friends. They realized Tess was nowhere to be found and asked the girls where she was.

"Do you know where Tess is? I can't find her," Nia said, worry evident in her voice.

"Yes, she went out not too long ago. We don't know why, though," Sienna replied.

Without wasting any time, Nia went outside as well. When she found Tess sitting on the stairs, a warm feeling filled her despite the cold air of the night. She sat down next to Tess, laying her head on her shoulder. Tess didn't need to open her eyes to know it was Nia; her perfume was already filling her senses. They sat there in complete silence, enjoying each other's presence.

"I was so worried. I thought something happened to you," Nia broke the silence. Tess smiled at those words, her heart skipping a beat.

"You don't have to worry about me. I'll always be with you no matter what happens. I'll always find my way back to you. You're my best friend, Nia," Tess replied.

"Wow, that got deep really quick," Nia said, and they both started to laugh.
