Encounter II: Charming
---
I awake to the sound of my buzzing doorbell, echoing throughout my apartment. I take a glance over to the alarm clock to my left.
"Crap," I say in a soft whisper. "I'm going to be late." I rise out of the comforts of my mattress and pillows and make my way to the door. Without giving it a second thought, I open the door. I am greeted by my neighbor Kise. "Huh?" I stare at him, confused.
"Ah..." He stares back at me just as confused.
I blink a couple of times and rub my eyes, but Kise is still in front of me. Why?
"Hahah..." Kise broke out into nervous laughter. "Your pajamas are actually pretty cute..."
I slam the door close when I realize that I hadn't been daydreaming. I quickly stare down at my sleeping attire, grimacing in embarrassment.
I picked the wrong day to wear a rabbits-and-carrots pattern set of pajamas.
I crack the door open slightly, but I don't let him inside. "Why... Why are you in front of my door?" I ask hesitantly.
"Oh," he says, "Nazuna told me to come get you. We should go to school together."
"Right... I told you that I would be attending Kaijou..." I say to myself. I begin to recall the embarrassing events from yesterday. "Just go without me. You're going to be late if you wait for me."
"Huh? But---"
I shut the door once again.
It's not as if I have anything against Kise, but he's a celebrity... I don't want to be known as that girl who came in with Kise Ryouta on her first day of school. I had enough of rumors from the past---I don't want anymore...
I performed my daily routines, quickly got dressed and packed my book bag---getting ready in 10 short minutes. When I opened the door, I see Kise standing there in front of me.
"What..." I stare at him with my mouth agape. "Why are you still here?"
"I'd feel bad if I left you here." Kise smiles without a care. "I mean, you're a transfer student after all. You're new to the school." Kise heads for the stairs. He looks back and says, "What? Was my face so charming that you need to stand there in a daze?" He grins. "Come on, we're going to be late."
"Wha..." I felt heat prickling at my cheeks, but it quickly subsides. I follow Kise. "You're not that good looking."
"EHH?" Kise cries. "That's cold, Mi-cchi! That's really cold of you!"
I had to hold in my laughter. Kise's reaction was adorable. He's like a little brother who seeks compliments.
"Mi-cchi?" I ask.
"Because your name is Mikasa!" Kise looks as if he was pouting.
"Alright," I say, "You're a little cute, I guess---still not charming though."
"EH?"
Oh, I made him blush.
