"Thanks Fatima, I really don't know how to express my gratitude." I said as Fatma turned to leave
"Seriously Mami, what are friends for?" Fatima asked smiling. "Anyway Amma said she'd come to the hospital when she's done shopping, bye I need to go and get her" And she left
I pushed open the doors of the hospital and made my way to my mothers room, I entered and found Anty Nafsa- my mothers sister on the chair closest to the bed and Zainab my older sister on the three-sitter farthest from the bed.
"Mama ina-wuni, how do you feel?"
"I'm feeling better, thank you, how was your day at school?"
"Fine Alhamdulillah, Fatma is coming with her Amma later In sha Allah"
"Oh, Allah sarki sai sun zo"
"Mami how's school" Anty Nafsa asked smiling
"Fine, fine"
"How's that our guy" she winked
"Astaghfirullah, please Anty Nafsa that traffic man isn't our man o." I frowned
"If you say so, but how does he know Ahmad's car?" Anty Nafsa asked playfully
"Because Ahmad chooses to use his car to drive us to the hospital" I replied turning to Zainab
"Did Mubarak come today ne Adda?"
"No, why do you ask?"
"Cause you look like you had a fight with him." I stated and turned to Mama while Adda just maintained her straight face. Ok that's awkward cause since the date for her wedding was fixed she was always happy.
Mama turned from her talk with Anty Nafsa and said something about her friends mother's death.
"Oh my, Yaya's mum died?" I asked and Adda nodded
"May her soul rest in peace, may Allah forgive her sins and have mercy on her" I sympathized
"What actually happened?"
"She had an accident on her way to Jigawa" Adda explained
"Oh" She simply said
"Ok when are we leaving the hospital?" I asked changing the topic. I mean today it's yaya's mum and tomorrow it might be Mama, no one knows
"The doctor said she'd be fine to leave by tomorrow morning" Anty Nafsa said
"Ok then, thank God I don't have school tomorrow." I sighed
Nile University isn't where one would love to go, cut off the thought that it's a private university, I've never enjoyed it. Ok, to be sincere the only times I enjoyed in Nile were my first week then the time I spend with my friends.
Though school isn't a place you go to just to have fun but at least everyone is entitled to a little fun, if not all the fun in the world.
"Mami, I think your phone is ringing" Mama said in her sore voice. Mama cries when we're not at home, not that anyone has told me, I just know.
