The next few days I went straight to the studio where I found everyone busy. We had gotten a bunch of applications the past few days and kept getting more and more. We had opened and went through hundreds of envelopes each from different people with different talents and styles of drumming. I had a stack and if I ever found ones that I thought Paul, Gene, and Ace would like, I'd show it to them.

I was going through thr mail when I came across this bright green envelope,  that stood out amongst the white ones. I opened it with curiosity nagging at me. The guys name was Paul Caravello and he seemed very interesting and talented.

"I think this guy is worth getting an audition with you guys." I said. They all looked up.

"Who?" Gene questioned.

"This guy, his name is Paul Caravello, he sounds really talented, listen to his tape." I said handing them the envelope. They read his application and listened to the tape.

"Your right, put him on the list of people for auditions." Paul said. I wrote his name down. In the next two days we went through probably 500 people and narrowed it down to about 50 people to audition with the band.

I typed up two different types of letters. One saying, sorry you were not picked for live auditions with the members of KISS and another saying congratulations, you got accepted to live auditions with the band KISS. I printed out as many as we needed and helped fill them out by putting names and dates on them and sealing them up for delivery.

The next couple of days were even more crazy, we had about 3 or 4 days to get through 50 auditions. Guys of all ages and talents were coming in to audition. Some were cocky and some were scared to death and nervous. I helped keep notes and kept everyone fed by running to the coffee shop or stopping somewhere to get food for everyone.

I was keeping myself busy, but I was still really bored. It wasn't until a familiar face walked in. It was that guy I met on the street by the studio!!! I looked down at the list of names to see who it was. It read, Paul Caravello. That was the guy that sent in the bright green envelope!!! I had no idea!!!

"Hi, I'm Paul Caravello." He said as he shook the band members hands. I watched him intently the whole time. He was really nice and polite, and had a good sense of humor. The guys seemed to really like him and he sounded amazing! Once they were finished he left.

"That was him Paul!" I said walking out of the control room and into the room where they played all the instruments.

"Who?" He said confused.

"He was the guy I saw on the street the other day! And the guy who sent in that bright green envelope!" I said.

"Really?" Paul said, sounding a little surprised.

"Yeah! He sounded great too, I really liked him if you ask me." I said.

"He was a nice guy." Ace said.

"Yeah I really liked him, but we got about another 20 guys to get through, so if no one else blows our hats off, he'll definitely be in mind." Paul said.

I smiled excitedly. I don't know why, but this guy just seemed to be the right one. We got in about another 5 guys before we stopped for the day. There had been a couple of pretty impressive guys including Paul. I got to go home earlier than usual so I decided to go out after going home and changing.

I went to this old bar I knew real well. The guys at the bar always gave me a discount on drinks or sometimes even made it on the house. I knew everyone there really well and it always made me feel welcome. I walked in and headed over to the bar. I looked over and saw a man that I recognized. I walked over and sat next to him.

"Well hello Peter." I said to the man.

"Jessica!!!" He said cheerfully.

"Man, you seem happy. You must be drunk." I joked.

"Normally that would be the case, but ever since I left KISS I've been drunk on life." He said.

"Well that's great I mean its better than being down in the dumps and miserable." I said.

"Yeah, I've been great. How have you been?" Peter asked.

"Busy, very busy." I said.

"What have you been busy with?" Peter asked.

"Well since you left, we need a new drummer so we've gone through about 500 guys in a week." I said heaving a sigh.

"You're too young and beautiful to be working so hard Jessica." Peter said.

"I'm 28." I said.

"I know, too young. You keep yourself cooped up with all this working and never take breaks, you should be out living your life and enjoying being young." Peter said looking past me as if a whole world of happiness was behind me.

"Well, someone's gotta pay the bills." I said with a laugh.

"Yes, but a pretty girl like you could pick up any guy, rich or poor and have what you want. You could get a billionaire and have tons of money and never have to work" Peter said.

"Since when have I been pretty and beautiful?" I asked with a laugh.

"You always have been. You know, I had a crush on you in high school, and then Amy came into the picture and she was interested in me." Peter said.

"Wow I never knew." I said, surprised.

"Yeah, so did Gene, Ace, and Paul, we all did. I'm surprised you never figured it out." He said taking a sip of his whiskey. I just laughed. "Well, I better get going." Peter said as he pulled out some cash and laid it on the counter.

I never knew that all four of them had crushes on me!!! That was insane!!! Man to think I could of had any of them as boyfriends in high school and instead I didn't have one boyfriend at all. Jim the bar tender walked over.

"I can feel it in my gut Jim, I'm going to die a virgin." I said and then took a drink of my beer.

"Nah, like Peter said, a pretty girl like you can get anybody, your just waiting for the right one. You're a rare girl you know that? You pick and choose what's right in a guy, that's why us guys were made to be dominant and show off our best traits to impress ladies like you and win you over." Jim said with a wink.

"I guess so." I said, looking at my beer bottle.

"Turn around, and scan the room." Jim said leaning over the bar. I swiveled around and looked at the crowd.

"Look at that tall guy over there, and tell me what you think about him." Jim said.

"Well he looks pretty cute. But he's by a bunch of girls so he's probably a player. Looks cocky, probably had sex more than one time. Probably a smartass." I said.

"See you picked right through him. He didn't impress you. Now maybe if you got to know him things would change. But for a girl like you, things got to look good on the outside first and then also good on the inside." Jim said.

"Yeah I guess your right." I said nodding my head. I finished off my beer and left Jim a tip. Then I walked home and crawled into bed after changing. I sat there thinking about what Peter and Jim said. They did make a lot of sense. I laid there thinking as I slowly dozed off.
