(To clarify, I am going to be releasing chapters weekly. This will give me time to write and proof read each chapter to ensure it is perfect! Enjoy!)
St Heliers corridors are like the winding tunnels of the pits of hell. A musty smell of damp lingered in the air choking down on me. The nausea kept rising through my throat, leaving me light headed and dazed. As beautiful and exquisite as St Helier Academy may look from the outside, the interior layers certainly are not. Kate and Amelia paraded down the corridor as their long shadows sprinted along the dark Academy walls. I trotted behind them as Kate wriggled her finger behind her, signalling for me to quicken my pace.
A large set of doors stood proudly in front of me. "This is the lecture hall Eden." Whispered Amelia. Kate smirked and gave me a brutal nudge. "This is where we mingle with the Upper-sixths." Kate boomed. My already existent agitation was becoming more and more uneasy. It's bad enough having to deal with my fellow Lower-sixths, but being thrown into a shark tank with eighteen year olds wasn't on my agenda. I took a gulp and whined "Upper-sixths!" Kate and Amelia scoffed. "It's the best lesson of the day! Besides the hottest guys in the Academy are Upper-sixths." Amelia cheered.
The great hall doors suddenly swung open. A slender white haired woman stood glaring at us. Her dark eyes widened as she began to speak. "Are we planning on learning any fine literature today ladies, or are we standing here gossiping all day?" Mrs Glover bellowed. I don't think her question was optional. I could feel my legs buckle as she diverted her beady eyes directly to me. She placed her boney hands onto her hips and pouted her thin, wrinkled lips. "Miss Fox I presume?" Mrs Glover snapped. I took a moment to compose myself and yet I still sounded like a mouse. "Yes Mrs Glover." She tutted and then scowled at Kate and Amelia. "Let's hope your behaviour and literature skills are more desirable than Miss Barnes and Miss Frederick's." I giggled a little and received a sideways look from Kate. I quickly looked down at my feet. Mrs Glover huffed and spun on her heels pacing towards the lecture stand. As her black kitten heeled shoes clicked across the marble floor, she shouted, "take a seat ladies." Kate floated down the walkway and Amelia pranced behind her. I trundled on as I followed the girls up the creaking steps and sat down on one of the many rows of seats. This may have been the most beautiful room in the Academy. The seats spiralled around the room looking down at the lecture stand. It was almost as if I were sat in the great colosseum of Rome.
Mrs Glover took to the stand and cleared her voice. "Good morning students. I hope you all completed the task on Ozymandias and are ready to begin your first novel." I have always loved literature. The effortless harmony of words creating such emotional, meaningful phrases. I tried to listen to Mrs Glover above Kate and Amelia's chit chat, when suddenly the mammoth doors clattered open. A tall dark haired boy strolled in without a care in the world. As he waltzed up the stairs Mrs Glover announced, "How gracious of you to finally join us Mr Fitzgerald." The boy snuffed and plonked him self down on a row filled with other rowdy boys. He pealed off his blazer to reveal a sleeve of tattoos. His perfectly toned arms flexed as he folded them into his chest. Was I drooling? I couldn't peel my eyes away from him. As he turned around my eyes met his deep blue gaze. My cheeks glazed over and he gave a little smirk. Kate squealed a little, "That's Luis Fitzgerald. The hottest boy in the Academy." No wonder, he is totally drop dead gorgeous. "He is so dreamy." Amelia squeaked. I couldn't help but notice his sculpted torso through the white translucent cotton. "Luis doesn't date lower sixths so I wouldn't bother pining over him." Kate snapped. My heart sank a little. What was I thinking, it's not like he'd be interested in me anyway. "Like that matters Kate, if he did he would be with you and as soon as you turn eighteen he will totally ask you out!" Amelia chirped.
Mrs Glover went on about this terms topics and then put down her dense note pad. "Who has read Wuthering Heights?" Mrs Glover's voice projected to the back of the hall. I shot my hand up punching the air. I looked around me and noticed only a few hands were raised. One of those hands was Luis'. Hmm, he has the looks and the brains it seems. "For those who haven't you best get reading as we are beginning to discuss the opening chapter in tomorrow's lesson." The shrieking bell rang again. A cacophony of noise spilled across the room as the students began to exit the hall. Luis jumped up and stretched out his muscled arms. Grabbing his bag he jogged down the stairs and slipped out the doors into the darkness of the hallway. My next lesson was french, and I was determined to make it on time. 'Souhaite moi bonne chance!'
