I really don't know what direction this rant is going in, so it'll probably be a rambling mess but oh well.

It is so irritating and infuriating when I hear that a writer on this platform has had their work be plagiarized.

Recently, one of my favorite authors NocturnaComplexities has been a victim of this. They've written some of the greatest stories I've seen on this website period, but now they've had their artistry stolen.

Being an author takes so much time and dedication. Writers are also integral to platforms such as this one, where we produce content for the sake of entertainment. Originality is very important (although not everything on here is original, but that's not the topic for today).

As an author myself, I try my best to produce content that is worth reading, which means works that are plotted well, have minimal errors and are interesting. This takes time. A lot of it.

Needless to say, copy and pasting does not.

Personally, I think about my stories PERPETUALLY. For example, I went on vacation for a few days and even while I was on vacation, I was still thinking about writing. It's that time-consuming, but it's time-consuming in a way that isn't a burden.

It's heartbreaking to see beloved authors who've been here for years leaving this site due to issues with plagiarism. I've seen authors become scared to even write again and release their works ANYWHERE due to this.

I've personally never been a victim of plagiarism on here (or at least I don't think so), but that shouldn't matter. Authors and readers alike should feel the weight of this issue and should feel the responsibility to look out for plagiarism and report plagiarized works.

Also, please consider sending support the mentioned author's way. The author has a book part containing a lot more information pertaining to their injustice on their profile so, check it out.

Plagiarism is one of the worst things that an author worries about, especially on online platforms such as Wattpad. No one should have to worry about having their dedication and hard work taken for granted.

So, yeah there's my word vomit.
