"MOM! WHERE'S ESPEON GONE!?" An irritated voice rang through their two-person house, loud enough that the trainer's school on the other side of the city was disturbed.

"Louis, she's probably with Umbreon! I let them both out for a bit!" the lilting, laughing voice of Louis' mother replied. It was finally the day her son would begin his journey! He was ever so late for it - he'd trained for four years longer than necessary at the trainer school, so his two twin Pokemon would be prepared for their journey. He was an exceptional kid, although he didn't look it - very small, exceedingly short, with wide midwinter blue eyes similar to lakes, and just as liquid, blonde messy hair that never lay flat, no matter how hard he tried - he was a bright lad, and he exceled within the field of battling - his espeon and umbreon duo were practically unbeatable at the training school, although it was unlikely that he'd beat everyone as easily as he had here than everywhere else.

Louis jumped on the staircase bannister and slid down it, a massive grin on his face that he couldn't manage to wipe away. "Alright, then - if I call them, think that Espeon'll be carrying Umbreon in her psywave again?" he asked, chuckling - they really liked fighting, and while Umbreon had a type advantage, he usually lost against the very battle-central Espeon. Both Louis and his parent found that hilarious. He leaned on the windowsill and opened the window, yelling; "ESPEOOOOOOON! UMBREOOOOOOOOON!"

As expected, Espeon came loping down the street, Umbreon suspended above her. Louis stuffed his fist into his mouth to stop himself laughing too hard.

"I'm off, mum! I'll see you soon - I'll visit, okay?" Louis told her, slightly worriedly, as if he was the parent and she was his daughter. Louis' mum smiled, slightly sadly.

"It's okay. You have your adventure - go to Roark's gym and test yourself out there, okay?" she asked Louis, who nodded determinedly in response. His mum turned to the two Pokemon; Espeon was spinning Umbreon like a top. "You take care of him, okay?" she asked. Both Pokemon nodded, like their trainer, although in the case of Umbreon it was hard to tell. Louis grabbed Umbreon and put him on his shoulder - Espeon took her place on his head.

"You're both so lazy," Louis joked with his Pokemon, who both growled at him in annoyance. "Joking! Joking! See you, mum!" he shouted his last farewell, and ran down the Jubilife road.

Louis' adventure had begun!
