Chapter one - Sweet Child O'Mine - Guns n' Roses

September 1st

Harry was awoken by a loud thump and a following groan that morning. He peered out of his bedroom door only to see 11-year-old Teddy Lupin, who lived with him since Andromeda passed away from dragon pox, sprawled across the corridor, fully dressed and bright turquoise hair, due to his excitement, about starting Hogwarts. As Harry looked along the corridor he spotted the source of the loud crash: a huge Hogwarts trunk, which Teddy had tried to carry down the stairs of Grimmauld Place all by himself, but terribly failed. Teddy grinned broadly as he spotted his godfather standing in his doorway, still drowsy after just having waken up. Harry sent Teddy a sleepy smile and headed for the stairs, to make them some breakfast in the kitchen.

“Honey or fruit loops, Teddo?”, Harry asked his godson, as he opened the fridge to get orange juice.

“Both.”, exclaimed Teddy jumping and skipping around the kitchen table.

As Teddy took ages to eat his cereal and his owl wouldn't calm down, they were late for the bus, so Harry decided to take Ted to King's Cross by side-along-apparation. Teddy giggled as he felt the familiar feeling of being pressed through a tube and when he opened this eyes again they stood in front of the gates of King's Cross.

Together they pushed the trolley, which carried the trunk and Ted's owl Colin, which Harry named after Colin Creevey, towards platforms 9 and 10. On his way to the barrier Harry saw a flash of very familiar blonde, nearly white, hair and pale skin, but he told himself it was just his imagination.

“So Teddo, on three we start walking straight towards this barrier and onto platform 9 ¾, do you understand?”

Teddy nodded in excitement and when Harry called out three they started walking straight into the barrier and onto the platform, where the steaming Hogwarts Express was already awaiting his passengers. With a quick glance towards the clock on the wall, Harry ushered Ted into one of the compartments. It was nearly empty except for a pale boy with curly blonde, nearly white, hair. Harry was mesmerized by the familiar hair colour, but snatched from his trance as Teddy tried to lift his heavy trunk onto the rack above his head and failed miserably, so the blond boy quickly got up and they heaved it onto the rack with joined forces.

As always Teddy was the one to start the conversation first: “I'm Ted Lupin, but everyone calls me Teddy. This is my godfather Harry. And who are you?”

“I'm Pluto Malfoy.”, the boy answered as he grabbed Ted's hand. “And this is my godfather Draco.”, he said pointing at the tall figure, that just stepped into the compartment.

“Potter.”, Malfoy nodded in my direction. So the flash of his face I saw earlier wasn't my imagination.

“Malfoy.”, I returned his nod, but then I thought about it. Do I really want to keep being arch enemies with the person, who's life I saved twice? So I just offered Malfoy my hand, hoping he wouldn’t reject it like I did in first year. I saw confusion flash across his eyes for a split second, but then his sneer was back as he self-confidently grabbed my hand and shook it.

“So you know each other?”, Teddy and Pluto asked at almost the same time.

Harry only nodded, but Draco said something about actually knowing the famous Harry Potter very well and Ted just sent Harry a questioning look.

“Let's just say we didn't get on very well.”, Harry said trying to make it sound, as if they didn't have a lot in common and therefore didn't get on well and not like they tried to kill each other on a regular basis.

“And why?”, Teddy asked concerned.

“Our dear Potter here refused my handshake in first year and to be honest I also made some mistakes, which I regret.”

Harry’s eyes widened, as Malfoy talked about regretting something. Well that's something new, Harry thought. When he was defending Malfoy at his trial, he never said a word about regretting any of his actions, but Harry still managed to plead for the boy's innocence and kept him out of Askaban. He just realised that Draco never actually thanked Harry, but maybe him regretting his actions was just the first step and others were yet to come.
