Chapter 4 – Monster
{Kuza POV}
I smirked as Selina jumped slightly, the new spell she was trying to create exploding in a ball of purple sparkles between her hands.“Shutup,” She narrowed her eyes playfully at me as I set up. “I’ll get it right eventually.”
I smirked, standing and taking a step towards her as she looked over her notes. “Yeah… it’s this eventually I’m worried about.”
“I think you’re just concerned that one day I’ll find a spell to paralyse you.” Selina smirked as she took my hand and let me pull her to her feet.
“Mmm… depending on what you’ll do if I’m paralysed, I might just give you that spell.” I hummed happily as she leant up and kissed me sweetly.
“I can only live in hope.” She chuckled into the kiss, making me smile… and then the air filled with dust. Glittery, black dust… dust that had me frozen in place…and Selina was screaming…

{Selina POV}
“I can only live in hope.” I chuckled, feeling him smile into the kiss … and then the air filled with dust…and I screamed out for Kuza as I felt unfamiliar hands grab me and begin dragging me out of his home. “Mike!” I screamed, fearful tears streaming down my face, and then I breathed in and frowned. “Myvana powder…” my eyes widened. “Oh no… MIKE!”“Oh shush!” a harsh voice and a sharp slap interrupted my horrified cry for help. “You’re going to help us take care of something…” she trailed off as the dust cleared and chanting began around me as I was dragged back into a van and restrained. “And then…” a sinister woman’s face came into view as the van lurched into motion and, as she placed a cold charm necklace about my neck, I was no longer in control of my own actions. “We’ll set you free…”
And, just the way she said it… I knew I was going to die.

It was all a haze. I didn’t know where I was. I could barely feel what I was doing… but I knew it was meant to harm another. Then, for a moment, my conscious state returned. I watched one after another of my energy spells leave my hands and go up to hit a shield protecting a two-story suburban house; a sound like thunder, so loud I felt its vibrations, echoing through the air with each strike.
Then, with a horrific shrieking sound, I saw the shield crack and shatter; my eyes darting to a young woman, crouched on the ground in the backyard, with her head between her hands… and then the sinister woman from before spoke up.
“Your friends need to be more aware of current events…” I heard her speak and saw the young woman look up; cringing away as the sinister woman went to kneel in front of her. “You see…while you have access to spells of protection…we’re controlling the only person in the district with the power to destroy those spells.” She looked over her shoulder at me and I saw the young woman notice me now. “Poor dear doesn’t even know she’s doing it…which is the best bit, coz she’d annihilate us if she knew.” I cringed mentally as I saw her fist clench. “You’re the first Hunter in over two hundred years to fall victim to the mating process…a shame seeing as you were such a promising trainee…” she swung her fist, hitting the young woman, knocking her into the dirt as she continued. “But not indispensable…”
I wanted to kill this woman. How dare she do this! My gaze drifted back to the young woman as she groaned when another present kicked her hard in the ribs in her attempt to get up… falling back down onto her side.
“What shall we do with her, Missus Conn?” I heard someone ask faintly someone walked up behind her.
“Get her up…the clan will follow her.” I heard the sinister woman, now known to me as ‘Missus Conn’, laugh dangerously. “And they’re weak from not hunting…we’ll rid the world of their filth yet…”
