“How long is it until we get to Fobin city?” Alta asked. “Alta, we’ll get to Fobin city when we get there.” Zane assured her. “Did I tell you that you need two Pokémon for the gym in Fobin city?” Grimsley asked. “What?” Alta’s eyes almost popped out of her head. “Luckily Alder gave us some Pokéballs with the map.” Zane showed Grimsley. “You two met champion Alder?” Grimsley asked surprised. “Yep, it was quite something.” Zane nodded. “I don’t see any wild Pokémon.” Alta moaned looking here and there. “There’s one coming up out of the ground! Wow it’s a beautiful Trapinch.” Grimsley observed. “What did you say?” Alta got her pokedex ready. “Trapinch is the ant pit Pokémon. It makes a conical pit in desert and lies in wait at the bottom for prey to come tumbling down.” Dexter announced. “So that’s why it came up out of the ground.” Zane commented. Trapinch went back to the bottom of its hole to hide while a Lotad came onto the path. “Who’s that Pokémon?” Zane asked pulling out his pokedex. “Lotad is the water weed Pokémon. It looks like an aquatic plant and serves as a ferry to Pokémon that can’t swim.” Dexter confirmed. “Look out!” Grimsley shouted but Lotad had already stepped into the hole and fell in. “Lotad Lo!” The Pokémon yelled for help. “Snivy, come on out and help Lotad!” Alta sent her out. “Grab Lotad with vine whip!” Snivy’s vine whip went down into the hole and grabbed Lotad. At the same time, Trapinch bit Lotad foot and started pulling him back. “Snivy!” She pulled Lotad but did not have enough strength. “I got you Snivy!” Alta helped Snivy pull Lotad out of the hole. “Lotad Lo.” Lotad thanked Snivy and Alta. Trapinch saw another Pokémon coming and decided to hide in its hole again. The Pokémon came into everyone’s view. “That’s a cute Pokémon.” Alta took out her pokedex. “Sandshrew is the mouse Pokémon. To protect itself from attackers, it curls up into a ball. It lives in arid regions with minimal rainfall.” Dexter confirmed. Sandshrew didn’t see the hole either but was lucky when he caught the edge of the hole. “Snivy save Sandshrew with vine whip!” Snivy obeyed and Trapinch did not harm Sandshrew. Trapinch was enraged because two meals had gotten out of his grip. “Trapinch!” Trapinch came out of its hole enraged and bit Alta’s head. “Get it off of me!” Alta hollered. Zane and Grimsley tried to pull Trapinch off but it was no use. Trapinch decided to jump off Alta’s head and go into the ground with dig. “That’s much better.” Alta rubbed her head. “Where’s it going?” Zane asked. “It’s coming to attack. Alta, hurry up and do something!” Grimsley urged. “Snivy fire a leaf tornado into that hole!” Alta ordered. Snivy obeyed and Trapinch came up to the surface. “Trapinch!” He used sandstorm. “Snivy use leaf tornado again!” The two attacks collided and then exploded. Trapinch came in with a bite attack. “Snivy use vine whip!” The attack went around Trapinch’s big mouth and held it firmly. “Snivy throw Trapinch!” Snivy threw Trapinch and he skidded across the ground. Trapinch dug another hole and hid underground. “Snivy be on guard and wait.” Alta ordered. Trapinch did come back up and Snivy struck him with leaf blade. Trapinch was getting really tired fast. “Enough of this, go Pokéball!”  Alta threw it hard making it hit Trapinch and he disappeared inside. The Pokéball wobbled back and forth a couple of times until Trapinch gave up and he became Alta’s second Pokémon. “Alright, my first catch is a Trapinch!” Alta cheered. “Bravo!” Grimsley clapped his hands. “You did really well Snivy, return.” Alta called her back. “Can you believe I did it?” Alta asked. “Hardly, but for your first time, you did really well.” Zane judged. Alta was very happy and started walking with confidence. “I doubt you could do any better.” Alta huffed. “I bet I could.” Zane challenged.
