“You lied to us!” Alta yelled catching up to Grimsley. “Yes I know. I’m sorry.” Grimsley apologized. “That’s not good enough!” Zane yelled not far behind. “I’ll explain everything to you guys just stop.” Grimsley pleaded. “You aren’t going to lie to us anymore?” Alta asked. “I’m going to agree 100% to that.” Grimsley agreed. The three of them slowed down to a walk right outside of Grimsley’s gym. “Wow! I always wanted to battle in this gym when I was younger and I finally get the chance too.” Zane awed. “I always wanted to too.” Alta agreed. The gym was quite big with a black roof. They all walked inside to a black field. “This is my gym. Now sit down and I’ll explain everything.” Grimsley promised. “How about you start with your childhood?” Alta asked. “Ok, when I was little, I always dreamed of one day being the Cardinal of the Plain Pokémon league champion.” Grimsley started. “Did you end up winning?” Zane asked. “Sadly no, I won against Tron in the semifinals but I lost against the current elite 4 Martha in the finals. Her Mienshao beat me. I was so mad at my Pokémon and myself when I lost. My starter Pokémon was a Tepig and I raised him all the way into an Emboar. I always liked the colour black for dark types. When the gym here in Fobin city first opened, I signed up and the mayor picked me to be the gym leader. I have the standard two Pokémon rule with me having no substitutions. If you beat me, you get the darkness badge.” Grimsley showed one to them. “Cool!” They both spoke in unison. “Here you go. You’re going to need these.” Grimsley handed a badge case to both of them. “These are used to hold your badges.” Grimsley explained. “How did you get Poochyena?” Alta asked. “Before I went on my journey, my parents gave me Poochyena on my 13th birthday. Since then I did everything with Poochyena. Then when I left for my journey, I left Poochyena at home with my parents in Bintalon City and he was so sad to see me leave. Now that I specialize in dark types, Poochyena is my best friend in battle.” Grimsley kept explaining. What happened to Tron?” Zane asked. “After he lost the Pokémon league, he joined Team Flare. He said he was going to capture the legendary Pokémon Reshiram but I never believed him.” Grimsley shook his head. “So we have guests?” A male around 20 years came onto the scene. “Yes we do Tony. These are my new friends Alta and Zane.” Grimsley introduced them to Tony. “I’m Tony and I’m Grimsley’s older brother and I work here as a judge at the Fobin city gym. Would you like to see my Pokémon?” Tony asked. “Sure!” Alta and Zane spoke together. “Croagunk, Venonat, Weedle and Spearow come on out here!” Tony sent them out. Alta and Zane took out their pokedexs. “Croagunk is the toxic mouth Pokémon. It rarely fights fairly, but that is strictly to ensure survival. It is a popular mascot.” Zane’s pokedex announced. “Venonat is the insect Pokémon. Its big eyes are actually clusters of tiny eyes. At night, its kind is drawn to light.” Alta’s pokedex replied. “Weedle is the hairy Pokémon. It eats its weight in leaves every day. It fends off attackers with the needle on its head.” Zane’s pokedex assured. “Spearow is the tiny bird Pokémon. It flaps its small wings busily to fly. Using its beak, it searches in grass for prey.” Alta’s pokedex confirmed. “Why did you become a gym leader?” Alta asked her final question. “I’m still not sure. I think it was because I got tired of traveling but now I want to do it again. Is it alright if I come along with you two and show you the region?” Grimsley asked. “Sure you can.” Ata smiled. Zane was uneasy at first but then followed suit. “I guess it will be ok.” Zane rubbed his head. “Excellent. I can’t wait to get on the road but first it is my duty as a gym leader to except all challenges that come my way. So who is up first?” Grimsley asked. “I am ready.” Zane stood up. “Good, I can’t wait to see what is in store for me.” Grimsley smiled.
