Coffee Shop Guy

5: Brayden

Alex's POV:

I was looking forward to the coffee shop more than ever. I wanted to speak to Yoongi about what Addi told me. I'm not mad about any of it, but it would be nice to know. It was finally time for me to clock out and go to the shop. 

Once I get into my truck, the radio comes on and starts playing an unfamiliar song. I gotta admit, it was amazing. Soon the host of the radio show came on and said it was a song from BTS. So Yoongi's group can really sing and rap well. I definitely wasn't expecting this.

As I pull into the parking spot and turn my truck off, I can't help but to be nervous. How do I ask him? Will he lie or be upset with me? 

I walk into the shop and am immediately greeted by him. "Alex! Long time no see." He wore a huge smile on his face. How could I make someone as famous as him so happy?

"Hey Yoongi." My coffee was already on the table as was his. He brought his sketch book today which made me happier. "You know, you and Jungkook made my friend's day."

"What do you mean?" He looked genuinely confused.

"Why didn't you tell me you were famous? I'm not mad, it would have been nice to know though. Was that why you wanted peace?" Once I finished I made eye contact with him. He looked guilty but by the look on his face, I knew he's been waiting for me to find out.

Yoongi's POV:

"Honestly, I was going to tell you. I just hesitated cause I found peace with you. I didn't want to lose that." Her eyes went from stern to soft. 

"Yoongi, I would never let you lose that peace. You mean too much to me for that to happen. I promised you peace and I will not break that promise." Her words seemed surreal. She really cared for me? 

"Alex, I have never had anyone treat me like a normal person like you. Well, besides the guys." Her head tilted to the side a bit, as if she was perplexed in my answer.

"How couldn't anyone treat you normally? That's how you treat me.  If someone can't treat you normally then they're awful."

Alex's POV:

Once I said that, Yoongi suddenly stood up from his seat. Next thing I know, I'm getting hugged from behind. His face was nuzzled into my neck and he held on to me like his life depended on it. "Thank you." 

"That's what friends are for right?" I grabbed his hand and gently squeezed it.

"Right."

Before I knew it, it was time for me to head home. I didn't want to say goodbye to Yoongi, but I will see him tomorrow. On my way home I got a text from Addi telling me to stop by her apartment on the way home.

Once I park I suddenly got nervous. She has never been this spontaneous with wanting me to come over. I walk up to her door and knock. I immediately heard her running to the door.

"Alex! I have a surprise for you and you can't refuse it." She instantly grabbed my hand and brought me into her living room and sat me down.

"Addi, what is all of this about?" I couldn't help but be tired. I worked all day and then sat at the coffee shop. I just wanted rest.

"I finally found the perfect guy for you after all this time! Remember the promise you made me? I pick one guy and you have to give him a chance?" Sadly I remembered. She had me make this promise after my ex cheated on me last year. She wanted to prove that she was looking out for me. 

"Okay who is this guy and when will I meet him?" She immediately burst with excitement. 

"His name is Brayden. He's from America, just like you. Same issue too. He was adopted as a toddler by a family here. He's one of my friends but he's been dying to meet you."

"Let me get this straight. He's adopted too from my home country?" She literally found someone from my home who dealt with the same problems. She really wanted this one guy to count.

"He's the sweetest. Alex, you have to trust me. You'll like him!"

"I'll go on a date with him for your sake. But if it turns out bad then I'm not going any further with it and the promise has been fulfilled."

"Deal!" She quickly got up and ran over to me to hug me. She has tried so long to get me into a healthy relationship with a guy and she is one step closer to her goal.

I quickly reviewed my outfit choice in the mirror. It's about to be time for my date with Brayden and saying I'm nervous is an understatement. It's been 2 days since I found out about it. Yoongi has been slightly easing my nerves with our conversations at the shop even though he doesn't know about the date. His presence just makes things peaceful for me.

As I put my shoes on I heard a knock on my door. Once I opened it I saw Brayden looking nice in a button up and black jeans. "Wow, you look amazing Alex." He had a huge smile on his face.

"Thank you. You look nice as well." He gently grabbed my hand and led me to his car. He was such a gentleman when helping me into the car and just by being kind in general. Addi might have been right.
