Morgan inhaled the crisp chilly air as she unlocked the doors to her shop. Her building was nestled cozily between her friend Amber's grooming shop and an automotive tune shop.
The older brick structure still held it's character from the early 1800's. Located in Milford's historic downtown district gave her the perfect view of all the town's social events.
Fall was quickly setting in and the quiet chill held the promise of the magical transformation of her favorite season. Glancing down the road she made a grimace. It looked like they were making progress on the boutique there.
The tall glass windows were still covered, but the workers were busily coming and going. Ugh, her head started pounding and she flipped it the "bird".
Her newly opened boutique was struggling and it seemed that snarky, too faced, bitch just had to move closer to rub it in her face even more.
She seriously couldn't relocate herself to another part of town, hell why not another state!!! Granted her shop Little Beauties has been open longer and Cass worked hard for it, but she was just a downright mean person.
Small towns have a dynamic all of their own. It's a different vibe, different atmosphere than in a larger city. Everyone knows everybody's business, usually before you know it yourself.
You can forget about EVER living down any mistakes or embarrassing shit you do, cause someone's bound to remind you of it, usually in front of the entire town in the most crowded situations.
So, you of course have your "cliques". Cause even as adults we can't seem to get out of high school.
She was born and raised here, not an outsider, but still not one of the "it" people apparently. Little Miss Butter My Biscuit Cass McCain was one of the town's Country Club members and therefore everyone and Cass herself acted like her shit doesn't stink.
Well, Morgan thought, I bet her shit smelled like the bowels of hell ate Taco Bell for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...cause that bitch was rotten inside.
Morgan flipped her sign to open, taking a minute to admire the freshly painted bright and colorful feathers on her window, and went through her morning ritual of turning on lights and checking on orders.
Her shipments were running late again and she had customers waiting on items. Last time this happened it was because Cass had sabotaged Morgan's supplier and they'd canceled her order and dropped her zip code protection and gave it to Cass.
Morgan had to refund twenty customers for pre-paid orders and justifiably not one was happy with her over it. She just couldn't understand why Cass was being such a bitch to her. Her shop, Curves, wasn't any competition for Cass. Morgan carried boutique items and clothing for curvy gals, sizes that Cass or any other boutiques in town didn't carry.
