The sky beckons
"Come higher
--Come higher."
The stars call
"Seek our fire
--Seek our fire."
I smile, and I listen
As the wind speaks through the leaves
High up in the trees
As the wind speaks to the leaves
High up in the trees
It speaks in violent whispers
"Come, come
--We will take you higher."
And the leaves that listen
Go higher for a time
But as they fall
To their own personal pyres
They scream
"Liar, Liar
-The wind is merely a liar."
And I begin to wonder
If the wind is the only song in the sky
Who sings lies
As the sky beckons still,
"Come higher
--Come higher."
And the stars nightly call
"Seek our fire
--Seek our fire."
