They arrived at Elena's house, shortly after. Damon knocked on the door. A middle aged man opened the door.

"Alaric, so nice to see you." Damon said, pushing through the man at the door. Alaric rolled his eyes and Stefan gave him a head nod to say hello and walked in behind Damon.

"Elena, we're here." Stefan called. She greeted to them both from the living room.

"We're in here." She said.

"We?" Damon said, looking at Stefan. They walked in the room to see Sam and Dean standing there with Elena and Jeremy. The hunters turned around and saw the Salvatores.

"Damon, Right?" Sam said. He nodded. "This must be your brother Stefan. Elena was just telling us about you two." Stefan shook hands with Sam and Dean as they introduced themselves. Stefan then put his arm around Elena who then held his hand that was over her shoulder. Dean raised his eyebrows.

"So, now that we're all introduced, what brings you to town?" Damon asked the brothers. Stefan looked at Damon as if to scold him for his blunt question.

"We're just passing through. We thought we'd check up on you two. We only heard about your parents a few days ago. We're so sorry for your loss. We lost our parents too. Our dad died a few years ago and our mother died when I was a baby and Dean was four." Sam explained.

"I'm sorry to hear that. Do you plan on doing any hunting while you're passing through?" Damon asked, breaking Sam and Elena's eye contact.

"Hunting?" Sam asked.

"Yeah, you said you and Grayson were old hunting buddies." Damon returned.

"Oh, um, not on this trip-"

"Yeah we might do a little. Why, do you know anything about hunting?" Dean said smiling. He amused himself with the thought of either of the Salvatores being hunters.

"Oh, no, I don't but Rick here is a hunter." Damon said, gesturing to Alaric. Dean looked at Rick and raised his eye brows again.

"Wow, what do you normally hunt?" Dean asked but before Alaric could answer, Jeremy interjected.

"Can we please stop pretending we don't know what these guys actually do? And while we're at it stop pretending Alaric hunts deer and geese." Damon looked at Jeremy, enraged. Sam and Dean both reached for their guns in the back of their waistbands.

"And what exactly do you think you know about what we actually do?" Dean said threateningly.

"Woah, hey let's all just take a breather." Stefan put his hands between the Winchesters and Jeremy. "Yes, we know you're hunters and not the deer and geese kind."

"And how do you know that?" Sam asked. "Your dad wouldn't have told you what he really did. Hunters with families either train them early or don't tell them at all and from the looks of you two when you were young, you were clueless."

Jeremy turned to Elena and then to Damon. Damon still glared at him angrily. "It's okay Damon, we can trust them. They'll understand once we explain." Elena said.

"Explain what?" Dean growled, getting annoyed.

"Once we explain how they know about you two and the whole monsters thing." Stefan said calmly.

"Stefan, don't. We don't know these two which means we can't trust these two." Damon said.

"Oh yeah, that makes us really want to trust you." Dean said gruffly. Sam and Dean both drew their weapons. "Somebody better start talking now."

"Okay, no need for those." Stefan said, standing in between Jeremy and Dean's gun.

"Stefan, I am warning you." Damon said sternly.

"They know what you do because they know what we are." Stefan said, ignoring Damon's threat. Sam nodded as if to say, go on. Damon shook his head. "Damon and I are Vampires." Stefan said. Sam and Dean quickly holstered their guns and both drew machetes from the inside of their jackets.

"Okay, nice one, Stefan. These guys are walking arsenals and now they want to chop our heads off." Damon said. Damon lunged at Sam but before he could get to him Rick jumped in the middle.

"Stop, all of you, enough." He shouted. "Damon, this whole bite first ask questions later business needs to stop. Try to talk it out. And guys these guys are not the kind of vamps that you are used to hunting."

"What do you mean?" Dean asked, still on edge.

"I've been researching Vampires for years. You usually hunt what I like to call, Living Vampires. They get turned while they are still alive and have little to no self control. You can hurt them with sunlight and dead man's blood. Stefan and Damon are Dead Vampires. Dead man's blood doesn't hurt them because they have to die to get turned. Dead Vampires can control themselves for the most part and are more rare than Living Vamps." Alaric explained.

"And why should we believe you? You're just trying to save your friends' hides." Dean said, not backing down.

"Okay, we can prove it. Living Vamps have many fangs right."

"Right, practically one to replace each tooth."

"Okay, Stefan, Damon, show them your fangs." Damon rolled his eyes and he and Stefan brought out their fangs to show only two sharp teeth on the top of each of their mouths. Sam and Dean looked, shocked that the fangs looked different, then they noticed the dark veins that ran up their cheeks to their eyes.

"What are those?" Dean said, pointing.

"Not sure exactly, I guess they are another thing to distinguish living vamps from dead ones." Alaric said. Damon chuckled.

"Look I'm flattered that you're admiring my good looks but do you still want to kill us or have we got past the decapitation part of our night?" Damon said, smirking. Sam chuffed and then looked at Dean. They both slowly put their machetes back where they came from.

"Alright, very good. Now, what are we going to do about the vampire that is killing people in town? There's only so many times that the residents of Mystic Falls will just take animal attack as the cause of death without questioning the fact that there aren't too many animal sightings in this area." Damon said as he plopped himself onto the Gilberts couch.
