Making Things Worse

"I can't believe we're going home in two days," Jimin grumbled, laying down on his surfboard as it rocked gently in the waves.

"You'll have plenty of chances to come back," Namjoon told him, sitting on his own board. "Your parents still live here, so you'll come back all the time to visit them."

"I know," he sighed, "I just miss it when I go back to Seoul."

"That's why we'll have to make the most out of today and tomorrow," his friend said. "Now, stop moping and help me stand up on this thing."

He laughed, sitting up and grabbing the end of Namjoon's board to steady it. "Slowly, like I showed you."

He had busied himself the last few days teaching Namjoon how to surf throughout the day, and exploring the city with him at night. Both of them had been pretty keen on avoiding their hosts, so Jimin was thankful for Namjoon's company. He still suspected something happened between his Hyungs in Jin's room, but he had let it go, figuring he wasn't going to get an answer out of Namjoon.

"Spread your feet out more, Hyung," Jimin instructed. "Good, like that! When this next wave comes, I'm going to let you go, alright? Keep your feet like that, and make sure not to lean forward or backwards too much as the board goes."

Namjoon made it maybe six feet with the wave before he fell into the water with a curse...again. "I don't think this is my thing," he grumbled, climbing back onto his board and paddling back to Jimin.

"No one picks it up overnight. You just need more practice."

"I don't think I'm getting enough practice in the next two days to be any good," he said. "I'll keep practicing here; you go surf if you want to."

"Are you sure?"

Namjoon nodded. "It's fun to watch you, so go for it."

He smiled. "Thanks, Hyung. I'll be back to check on you in a bit."

He paddled out into deeper water where the larger waves were and sat up, waiting. He had forgotten just how much he missed Busan and visiting the beach. The smell of saltwater filled him with a sense of home, and he could feel all the stress sinking out of his muscles as he took slow, deep breaths.

"I don't think this is the best place for meditation."

"Hyung!" He nearly fell off his board when he jumped at the sound of Jin's voice. "When did you get here?"

"Just a moment ago. I saw you out here in a daze and thought I should check on you." He smirked and leaned towards Jimin. "You looked pretty lost at sea."

"Drowning is sounding like a good thing right now," he groaned as his Hyung laughed. "That was terrible."

"Don't be salty about it."

He tried his hardest not to laugh, knowing it would only fuel the terrible jokes.

"Ok, ok, I'll stop." He wiped at his eyes before looking at Jimin. "So, tell me why you're so crabby."

"Hyung!" He shoved him off his board.

He was laughing when he came out of the water and climbed back onto his board. "That was a good one!"

"No. None of those were good," he chuckled, shaking his head.

"None of you guys appreciate great humor," Jin pouted with a sigh.

"We do. You just don't have great humo--hey!" The older man splashed him before he could finish, starting a splash war that went on until both of them were blinded by saltwater and sputtering for air.
