"Ah! Feels good to be sitting here again", Hermione sighed as she seated herself on the seat opposite Harry and Ron. "I still think it would be better to skip out on this year", a very sleepy and grumpy Ron grumbled, while trying to get comfortable on the compartment seats. "Oh dont be ridiculous Ronald! We need to finish our studies and plus, we might just get a peaceful year now that the war is over. Don't you think Harry?" Hermione asked. "Mhmm, but knowing our luck and how we attract trouble, an un-warlike year is improbable" the chosen one replied.   " We could try at least, besides there's no harm in being a little less curious this year", Hermione mumbled, pulling out a heavy and dusty black book. It had silver engravings on it which were peeled or faded in multiple places, making it look like it had been stowed away in a locked old library for centuries. The book seemed to give off a wave of darkness, and Harry didn't know why, but it seemed to harry the year wouldnt be all peace, quiet and calm like Hermione wanted. Soon Ron's snores filled the compartment as Hermione read her book and Harry wondered what thorns were to be spread in their path this year.

The Hogwarts Express came to a halt a few hours later. As the students vacated the train, they all marveled at how beautiful the school looked. It had been and still was a second home to many, and it looked as if it never faced any damage. The lights flowing out through the open windows shined and the black lake looked as if it was made out of obsidian. The giant squid made an appearance above the lake before sinking back down, leaving some students terrified and some awed. A few towers had been added to the castle an house flags had been put up throughout the exterior walls.

The groups of 2nd to 8th year students each occupied a carriage driven by the skeletal horses called Thestrals. Most people could see the spiny creatures now, and this thought saddened them all as it meant most people had witnessed death. They rode the carriages up to the gates guarded by the winged boars. A cool breeze washed over them, as if welcoming them, and making them feel safe and at home. They walked through the wet castle grounds which smelled of freshly mowed grass and wildflowers. The whole area was lit up by the fireflies dancing in the air. This was home, the one place where everything would be good in the end. Even if people and things were lost, they would still have  their victory.
