Happy Life
"AVA! ASHER!"
The two siblings, who are pretty much twins even though Asher is older by a year, run away cackling like the wicked witch of the west while holding my laptop in their custody. I chase after them but only manage to catch up with Kealy.
Asher is just too fast.
I abandon Ava and run after Asher because it seems he's the mastermind behind this evil plot and is currently running away holding my laptop in his arms. I met them three years ago when I and Ava were just fifteen and Asher was sixteen. I had gotten paint stuck in my hair and one of the jocks decided to tease me because of it. Asher had cone to my rescue and knocked the guy down.
He's been feared by the whole school ever since.
He'd helped me get to the toilet and then told Ava to help me into my extra outfit. She'd laughed at my hair and told me that she could help me get highlights but that paint doesn't work. I laughed with her after that and that's how we clicked and have been besties ever since, though Asher has gone from rescuer to retard which just makes me want to hack his head off with a sledgehammer.
Like right now.
I turned a corner and trip on the rug but before I could fall, a hand snakes around my waist and catches me. I turn to see Asher looking at me with a concerned look on his face. Normally, I would be touched that he cared but at this point I only cared about getting my laptop back.
I swiftly entangle my hand in his hair and pull hard. He yelps in pain and tries to wiggle free but I hold on tighter. So far only Kealy and I have managed to make him suffer pain and believe me, I love the upper hand.
"Where is my laptop?" I say in a voice that is so calm that it even scared me.
"On the counter in the kitchen." He replies.
I let go of his hair and move to retrieve my belonging but halfway there, Asher snatches my hand and pulks me back only to grab my laptop again and start running.
"Asher! I am so going to kill you!" I scream.
I hear his laugh from somewhere on my house and start fuming again. Before I can take a step to chase him, the doorbell rings. I sigh and change my course and open the door. I am greeted by a smiling pizza delivery guy who is also very cute. I take the pizze box from him and pay. He hands me a piece of paper then leaves.
I close the door behind me and open the paper he gave me. On it written in bold black numbers is his phone number. I smile, but before I can decide what to do with it, it is ruthlessly snatched from my hand. I look up just in time to see Asher tearing the paper to pieces and my jaw drops to tje floor.
"Seriously?!" I ask incredulously.
"What?" He asks nonchalantly like he didn't just prevent me from knowing a really cute boy.
I groan and literally pull at my hair until it hurts then I let go and glare at Asher who is smiling sweetly at me. I narrow my eyes at him and his own widen meaning he probably just realized that I'm going to kill him. I take a step forwardvand he simultaneously takes a step back. I keep on advancing until I am right infront of him and thanks to the hall closet, there's nowhere for him to run to unless he decides to run right through me which I know he won't do because he can't hurt a girl. I internally smirk at him, thinking about how to make him pay for all the things he's done to me today.
"Whoa there. Let's not do anything we'll regret later." He tries.
"Who's regretting what?" Ava asks just coming down from my room. I wonder what she's been doing up there all this while.
"Asher is going to regret messing with me." I answer her question.
"Yay! I wanna watch!" She replies.
Asher gives her an unbelieving stare. "You're supposed to help me!" He whines.
Ava just laughs and walks into the kitchen. I grab the nearest object to me which so happens to be an umbrella. Oh Asher, this is going to be really painful. Before I can land the blow, his hand shoots out and catches my wrist. He gives me a pleading look, really trying his best with the puppy dog eues but I am relentless. When my facial expression does not change, he heaves a sigh of frustration and starts to speak.
"Okay, okay. I know I've been annoying you a little but..." He starts.
"A little?!" I ask.
"Fine, alot. But I am very genuinely sorry I did this. I swear I was possessed by an evil darklord from the underworld and he's the one that made me annoy you..."
Somehow I can actually believe that.
"...So please don't punish me for a demons mistakr." He finishes still trying the puppy dog look.
Still, the impassive mask stays on my face.
"I'll buy you a McFlurry?" He adds.
"Deal."
So what, I'm a sucker for McDonalds.
I let the umbrella fall from my hand and back to its original position but before he could leave, I grab his shirt.
"Laptop." I state simply.
He sighs and trudges to the kitchen and I see it on the counter, where he must have dropped it before coming to rip my paper to shreds. I grab my laptop and proceed to go back up but Ava's voice stops me.
"I missed it?" She asks and I nod, a small smile on my lips.
Asher notices my smile and immediately scowls. If not for my weakness to food, he would be six feet under by now. Ava shrugs then turns to her brother who is fumbling through my fridge for a snack.
"Anyway, Asher?" She starts.
He hums his response wirhout removing his head from the fridge.
"Mom called, we gotta go now. Something about not finding her necklace."
"What?"
"She can't find her necklace, so we gotta go help her."
He humphs and goes to the living room to pick up his bag then walks out the door to his Range rover. Ava comes to give me hug then follows her brothers footsteps and walks out the door. Once the door closes firmly, I go upstairs to continue the book Asher so annoyingly pulled me out of but now I can't remember where I stopped and now I'm frustrated again.
I will kill that boy.
Watch out Asher.
