It's hard starting a story. You can't start with 'I', or with a blaring alarm. That would be too cliché to even try. You also can't start with 'Hi, my name is ...', because it's been drummed into your head since grade five that you just simply cannot.
But what if that's the way your story starts? With an alarm next to your head, pounding out a loud song, like mine?
Go ahead. The only one stopping you is your annoying English teacher.
Hi, my name is Sasha Moore. And I am the popular girl of Redlands High.

"What?" I asked, spluttering on my cereal.
"That's gross," My little brother Zach, told me through a mouthful of toast. I gave him a 'shut up I don't care' look and turned back to my mother. "No way." I told her.
"Well, it's happening. So buckle up and deal with it." She answered.
I dropped my spoon back into my bowl of cereal. "Please tell me this is an extremely late or really early April Fool's joke," I begged.
"It's a good chance for you two to sort out your differences. Plus, its only for a year or two."
"A year or two?" I gaped.
Zach had the audacity to laugh in my face.
"Shut up." I shot at him.
"Look Sasha, whether you like it or not, Melody is coming in a month. And you will grit your teeth and bear it. Okay?"
"No."
"Sasha." Mum warned.
The look on her face told me that there was no getting out of this.
"Fine," I snapped angrily, picking up my cereal and pouring it in the bin, my appetite lost.
"Good girl. Now, start preparing for this weekend, Melody is coming for a short visit before she moves in."
I stomped out of the room. No freaking way. If only I was Zach's age and could throw a screaming tantrum until mum agreed to have Melody stay elsewhere.

"Melody?" Demi questioned. "As in your cousin Melody? The one that you tried to push into a mine shaft?"
As if Mondays weren't already bad enough, without the news I'd gotten that morning.
I slammed my locker shut. "One; yes my cousin Melody. Two; I only did that because she threw my shoes into the mine shaft first. They were my favourite shoes."
Demi ignored that. "So, she's staying with you for two years?"
"That's what mum said." I grumbled, struggling under the weight of my books. Where was a quarter-back when you needed one?
"I'm sorry, but you're dead."
"You're telling me. She will do whatever it takes to annoy me. And by that I mean take my spot at the popular table."
"She can't be that bad."
"Hahahahaha no. She's a monster."
"I'm pretty sure that's what most people think about you, Sash."
"Shut up. By the way, how's things going with Michael?" That was my first try at getting her off the subject of Melody.
"Meh. He really isn't all that bright." It worked. Demi was always willing to talk about her current boy target.
"Probably from bashing his head so many times during the football games."
"You're a bitch Sasha Moore," She commented.
