"How bad is it?" questioned Nick Fury, unnoticeably trembling with fear as he walked in to the underground SHIELD facility in a small town outside Chicago. The town has been evacuated due to a Surge of energy released by a small galactic blue cube called the Tesseract.
"We dont know, sir, that's the problem." Answered Agent Phil Coulson. Coulson brought Fury down to the lab where the Tesseract is held and he began to look around. Dr. Erik Selvig saw Fury and told him that the tesseract could be a door way to the other end of space. Agent Clint Barton ran up to Fury to give him his report on the Tesseract where he states that doors open from both sides.
Suddenly, the Tesseract fires a huge energy surge and Loki appears. "I'm here to put an end to your puny little planet." Loki shouted, hoping to catch everyone's attention. Fury told Barton to leave and help people get out of the town as soon as possible. Fury distracted Loki long enough for Barton to escape.
The portal that Loki came through began to collapse in on itself and when Loki realised this, he left with a group of soldiers who were mind controlled by Loki, as well as Selvig who had too been mind controlled and had taken the Tesseract. Fury chased after him but he had got into a car on the top level of the facility and drove away. Fury ran to his helicopter and escaped just in time.
A huge bang deafened Furys ears, with a tear in his eyes, he watched from the helicopter as the SHIELD facility crashed into the ground.
*Through the radio* "Barton. Barton are you there?" Fury called
"Yeah I'm here, did you get away?" Barton exclaimed
"Yes. This is threat level 7. From now we are at war with Loki." Fury stated
"What do we do Sir?" Barton asked, worried.
"We assemble the Avengers." Fury remarked
