The River 2

Chapter 7

It was the day of the meeting between Charlie and Jake.
The meeting was at 4pm near a lovely blossomed tree and a wooden bench in the park.
Amy was the first to arrive with her binocular, just to check the whole river situation; she stayed there for almost 30 minutes. Charlie arrived and saw her, so he decided to surprise her; he tapped her shoulder saying "Hey Amy! Are you okay?"
Amy immediately turned around and exclaimed: "oh hi no yes I was just checking out the view, you know uh...the sun."
Charlie replied with a suspicious tone: "but the sun is behind the clouds..."
Amy: "yeah I mean the river's waves are nice right?"
Charlie: "well yeah I saw a lot of movements lately, but I don't know what is happening, do you? I really wanna know something...it all seems pretty boring lately"
Amy: "nope absolutely nothing."
*terrible liar*

Seconds later she gently pushed him and led him to Jake, still ignoring his suspicious stare.

Jake was sitting on the grass anxiously.
Amy spoke: "so here we are. Stay here. Jaaake your new friend has arrived!"
Jake was literally surprised, he looked at him and he blocked his face for a sec.
Charlie broke the silence smiling and saying: "hi I'm Charlie, nice to meet you! Amy told me a lot about you, in just... 10 minutes!?"
"oh h-hi I'm Jake. It's a pleasure...i g-guess"
He quickly went near Amy and whispered: "What the hell did u do Amy!?"
"Come on don't worry, it's all gonna be fine, just start talking, you'll thank me later" she replied with a proud smile.
So Jake gave Charlie a forced smile and said tapping on the grass: "okay you can sit here"
Amy then took her binocular and waved saying: "okay now I gotta go have fun!"
Jake stopped her worried: "no you can't leave us here alone!"
"Huh?why not? You're Jake he's Charlie you're both 4teen, he's a skater boy, you're a.. a los.. you're a table games player so just find something fun to do."
"but w-wait where are you going?"
"don't you know I got some important business dude" and she desperately tried to indicate the river without being caught by Charlie.

Jake finally understood and exclaimed turning to Charlie : "you know Charlie... I suddenly wanna learn how to skate, would you like to teach me"
Charlie replied happily : "wow cool let's go"

It really was a fun afternoon.
They had a lot of fun together, and Jake suddenly got a weird feeling, he couldn't explain what it was, maybe just because he was his first friend. But one thing he knew was that Charlie really was a cool guy.

Stacey was in her room, writing something, but she suddenly got a feeling too, the feeling of knowing the truth. So she went to the kitchen, where her mom was.
"Hey mom, did you hear the news?"she said.
"what news?"
"they found 40 dead bodies near the river this morning, guards I think, what do you think about that, and did you know that?"
Lena was internally shocked but tried to stay calm: "really? I- I don't know what to think maybe they just touched or ate something poisoned"
Stacey: "hah no mom they had totally been bitten and a lot of blood was around all of them"
"oh crazy! Okay what do you want me to say?!"
"come on mom stop it. We all know you put the guards there. I can't handle this anymore. YOU. You did all of it. How. Why?"
"mhm come on don't be silly honey..."

Stacey was really mad at her mom so she went closer to her to let her know it was serious.
"STOP IT MOM. You know all of it. How can u be so cruel. Don't lie to your daughter at least"
Mom: "okay then let me tell you something. Why should I be cruel. What's in that river? What exactly is so important to have you so mad. A treasure? WHAT? I was trying to protect you but as I see you still go there."
"you really don't know me. You know what you did? You killed 40 innocent people. You killed hundred of animals in that river. What do u wanna kill now? Maybe you will be the next for them. You can't understand. I can't either."
*stacey was crying while she was talking*
Mom:"WHO, WHAT? MONSTERS? WHO?"
Stacey:"NO FUCKING ONE. AND IF YOU DONT STOP ALL OF IT, I WILL. I WILL STOP YOU AND I WILL BECOME THE BAD ONE HERE. I DONT WANNA BE THE PERFECT DAUGHTER OF THE NEXT DOOR. I WANNA LIVE MY LIFE IN MY WAY AND I IF U DONT AGREE I CANT DO ANYTHING WITH IT. DO YOUR JOB SOMEWHERE ELSE MOM"
and after saying so she left the room in tears shutting the kitchen's door.
Lena was still trying to process but she was literally out of control. What was in that river? WHAT?
