The River 2

Chapter 10

The day after the whole crew (with Charlie) was at the Myers'.
They sat on a big carpet and Stacey started explaining Charlie the whole river situation.

"so Charlie, welcome to the craziest adventure you will ever live.
Basically last year we discovered this river was cursed, haunted, because we started seeing some creepy creatures in the river and around the jungle. This could sound crazy at first, but this is something we only know. And nobody else. You're the only person we told."

"no it's not totally crazy, I mean it is, but I've always believed in magic. It's already exciting!!"

But Amy interrupted his excitement: "yeah but it's not THAT exciting , I was about to die 5 months ago."
and Jake added: "yeah, me too... a flower tried to eat my leg so.."

"OH MY GOD WHY I MEAN FLOWERS ARE CURSED TOO?!"

James answered firmly: "yeah. The thing is that the whole jungle is cursed. But it's not cursed it's like the river and the jungle were born on a rare kind of grass that can make flowers, plants,trees live and most of all can create monsters in that river who can eat people in less than 20 mins"

Charlie then gulped: "oh okay well this is creepy."
and Stacey added: "hell yes it is. But this is just the beginning. Last year we also discovered a huge gate, where all the monsters are created. We went in that gate once but there are like magic portals and it's all so confusing... there are lights and weird stuff of all kinds. We actually were about to discover more but our submarine is gone..." Jake sighed: "our beloved submarine, I miss him so much"
so Charlie asked: "why? What happened to your submarine"

Stacey: "my mom found out we stole it from her and now she hid it or just probably destroyed it..."
"oh..."
Jake: "but Charlie you gotta watch your back when you're in that jungle. You can't touch anything, this is our provider everytime we're in there. The monsters hide behind the plants when they're hungry and like my brother said they can bite you and eat you in 20 minutes"
Charlie seemed to understand: "got it"

James: "but for now they're actually pretty fat cause they ate 40 guards in one night. We're okay for a while. I guess"
Jake followed his brother saying: "yeah and a reminder:trees and flowers are poisoned stay away from them. That's the reason why Amy fainted."

"holy crap and how did you wake up?"

Amy replied with a low voice: "oh man I actually still don't know. Suddenly. The poison perhaps just vanished"

"oh luckily"

Stacey added: "yeah u can say it loud. Anyways you have to keep this secret. Lie to your mom and your dad when you go out and come with us. I know it's not the right thing to do but they must not know. That's another mistake I made...I didn't lie enough and now my mom knows there's something serious in the river. Plus she's not at home as much time as before and we don't know if she's working or doing other things..."

But Charlie, due to his divorced family, had no problems at all: "no problem for me. I'm pretty sure my dad doesn't care about me and my mom is always at work so yeah. But do you think your mother can investigate better than us because she works in a police station?"

Stacey: "well that's smart Charlie...probably it's one of the things she planned"

Amy: "last but not least, we have a friend, and this friend is Wisey, he comes from the river."

"cool and how did he survive?"

"uhm he's one of the monsters..."

Charlie froze for a second: "Wait WHAT"

"yeah but he's not like the others, he's good and most of all he wants to live in a normal world..oh here he is"
*wisey opens the door and comes in the room saying hi, Charlie was obviously scared but he didn't stop watching that little animal walking and talking*

"OH MY FREAKING SHIT HE CAN T-talk!?"

Jake explained: "yup and we don't know how is it possible yet but you know he's now part of the fam hehe"
"Oh" Charlie chuckles to Wisey "h-hello then I'm Charlie"

Suddenly James asked: "I wanna add another rule. Can I?" and Stacey immediately aswered : "for sure babe"

Charlie obviously got curious and came up with this question: "wait are you two..?"
James & Stacey both raised their voices : "yup we are" and then James continued: "anyway my rule is: if there is something you wanna tell to us, just say it. Don't be afraid. We're now friends and we help each other in every trouble.

Charlie finally felt home: "wow this is the best rule. This is what I needed. Friends!"

[5 hours later]
Jake arrived at the Myers' for instinct, because after what his brother said, he needed to tell someone that strange feeling for some advice. But he wasn't sure because what if she wouldn't have understood, what if she would've stopped being his friend, but he had to tell someone.
So Jake finally knocked at the door and Amy opened it: "Hey Jake what's up?"

"Remember when James said we have to tell the others if we have a problem?"

"yeah..?"

"Well I have a problem."
