-Chapter 9-

Finally I make it outside and step into the black car door being held open by a man who looks to be in his late 60’s with greying hair and a frail body.

“Thank you.” I say. He nods before closing the door.

He hops in the driver’s seat and I watch Haze waving from the door as we move towards the gate at the end of the driveway. I huff out a breath and slump in the seat, putting my headphones in I turn my music up as loud as it will go, stopping any awkward conversations the man behind me would think to start.

Half an hour later we pull up outside a plain grey store with nothing to hint to me what might lay inside. It’s so physically ugly that I wouldn’t even imagine myself walking in but my curiosity gets the best of me and I follow the man inside the store.

A man appears from a door behind the counter and greets us with a bright white smile. Dimples appear on his cheeks and I pout, jealous that he has dimples and I don’t. Even his hair is better than mine, light chestnut hair that falls over his face, slightly covering his vibrant grey eyes. I can’t help but to think that his eyes match the greyness of the building.

“How can I assist you, men?” He says in a slightly scratchy voice but sexy nonetheless. I look towards him to find his eyes raking over my body slowly and when they reach my eyes I dip my head, a blush making its way to my cheeks.

“We’re here to pick up a parcel for Mr. Drumming.” The old man says.

Somehow I feel the pressure of the sexy boys eyes move away from me to look at the man in front of him instead. I picture him nodding as he says, “I’ll be just a minute.”

While he walks back through the door I take the time to look around the room. It’s nothing compared to the boring walls outside. Each wall is covered in a different setting; one a beach, the other a city, a forest and the ocean. I walk up to the one of the forest to take a closer look and discover that it’s actually painted.

I feel a presence behind me and turn to see the same boy that was behind the counter. “Do you like it?” He asks.

I nod my head, not taking my eyes away from it, “Did you do it?”

He nods and I smile to myself. A looker and talented. What more could you want? “I can teach you some time if you want?”

I feel myself agreeing before I even think it over, “I draw but I’m not very good at it so I’d love to try painting.”

He chuckles and I can’t help the smile from widening at the sound. “Well you can call me whenever you feel up to learning, I’d be happy to help you.”

It feels as though there’s a secret meaning behind his words but before I have a chance to ask he grabs my arm and pulls my sleeve up. With a blue pen he neatly writes his number on my skin.

“Hope to see you soon.” He walks away and throws a wave over his shoulder and I can’t stop my eyes from trailing downwards to look at his arse as he walks through the door.

I groan inwardly and quickly walk out of the building before something happens that’s beyond my control.

It’s only when we’re halfway back that I forgot to ask him for his name so I quickly send him a text asking.

By the time we get home I would have checked my phone a good thousand times but still he hadn’t texted back. He must have given me a fake number. I should have seen that coming, there’d be no way someone in his league would want to help me with anything.
