Its been two weeks since the Thompson family started a new life. It's been two weeks since Karen and Gabriella moved to Forks and into their new home. Life in Forks was pretty simply and laid back. Their new home was peaceful.
"Mhhh Mhhh Mhhh Mhhh Mhhh " Her voice hummed as she walked up the stairs with a birthday cake in her hands. Karen Thompson walked towards her daughter's bedroom humming the ' happy birthday ' song. She opened the door and walked to the bed where Gabriella slept peacefully. Karen nudged her arm and awoke Gabriella."Happy Birthday baby"
Gabriella opened her eyes towards her mother and smiled. This was no surprise to her. Every year she got woken up by her mother beside her bed, holding a birthday cake in her hands, this made her heart swell every time.
Gabriella loved her mother very much and can't imagine life without her. When Gabby's father died Karen was the one that picked all the broken pieces and glued them together even though her ones were shattered. She had to take on the role of both the mother and the father and it wasn't easy. She sacrificed so much so that her daughter was able to live her best life. She always puts her happiness before her own, she was a very selfless person.
"Thank You mom" Gabby smiled and blew her candles off .
"I can't believe that you're 18 already, time does really move fast" Karen wiped her flowing tears as she hugged her daughter .
"Your dad would have been proud" Gabby's heart sank as her mother mentioned her father. It has always been a touchy spot for her as she loved her father dearly. She missed him.
" I miss him" Gabby whispered with tears.
" I know baby , I miss him too "
"Today I am going to make your favorite breakfast to celebrate, all of your favorite foods of course" Karen winked as she tried to change the subject and laughed as saw the smile on Gabby. Food was the only way to Gabby's heart, anything that dealt with food she was always there first to dish. Gabby smiled brightly and eagerly got out of bed and drew the curtains wide open to see the sun shining for the first time ever since she's been here.
"You better get dressed otherwise the food will get cold " Karen kissed Gabby's cheek and wished her a happy birthday once more before heading downstairs to get the table set up.
Gabby went to straight to the bathroom and took a hot shower quickly as she could , dressed in a pair of jeans and an oversized black sweatshirt since she knew she wasn't going anywhere. She put her hair in a ponytail and practically flew downstairs.
Ever since her mom and her moved to Forks, all Gabbie did was stay at home since it was the middle of the school year. Unfortunately she knew that she'd have to start school again sometime but she enjoyed her time alone in her new home.
"Stop running down the stairs Gabby , you'll fall and break something " Karen warned and Gabby rolled her eyes. Karen laid the last bowl of food on the table. "Gabriella grab the orange juice from the fridge please " She did as she was told and quickly hurried to the table.
"Mom this absolutely looks amazing " She said as took a piece of bacon and shoved it into her mouth. Karen had prepared a full buffet for breakfast today with all different kinds of foods. There was bacon, eggs and pancakes. All of Gabbie's favorite.
"Could you at least eat while sitting Gabriella?" Gabbie rolled her eyes. "I swear sometimes you're an animal" her mom chuckled.
"No I'm not!"
"Well you act like one" they both laughed.
Gabbie and Karen were always like this. Their relationship was like no other. It wasn't just a mother daughter relationship but also they were best friends. Karen always made sure she was there for her daughter and that whatever she went through, she wouldn't go through alone. Gabriella was her life.
"So you ready to start school?"
"Mom, it's the middle of March and finals are coming. I doubt any school would take me this late"
" I know honey. I'm just stressed, I want you to complete your senior year in a normal high school and not online"
"Yeah I know but finishing online isn't so bad. I can self study, I'll be fine" she shrugged.
"Okay I guess you can finish online since it is my fault for moving during the school year. But anyways.... I was afraid you wouldn't wake up this morning, I was thinking of leaving a note on your bed and going to work."
"Oh I'm sorry, I was writing in my journal and before I knew it, it was after midnight " Gabby took a sip from her juice.
Ever since Gabriella was young she would always write stories after stories of her fantasies. She would write and loose track of time.
"Like I always say ... "
Gabby cut her off. "I'm part werewolf, when the moon's up I'm up, yeah I know mom " Karen laughed and looked at her wrist watch. Her face scrunched up in frustration and she started cleaning her plate.
" I have to get to the hospital, I have a few important clients I need to deal with " She said as she got up and started cleaning the table and putting all the empty dishes in the washer.
" I'm sorry I have to leave baby , but I promise I'll make it up to you. Here, I know its not much but I hope you like it" She handed Gabby a purple rectangular box with a blue bow.
Inside held a beautiful necklace that she instantly fell in love with, but there was something that didn't add up. She had seen this necklace somewhere and written about this mysterious necklace in her journal.
"Mom this is gorgeous, I love it" her eyes glistening with tears threatening to spill out.
Gabbie couldn't take her eyes off of this necklace. It was like she'd seen it before. It had to be the same necklace she writes about in her journal. With that, she felt a rush in her veins making the hairs of the back of her neck stand. She felt a strong connection with this necklace and she didn't know why
"Mom, do you mind dropping me in town. I want to do some shopping, get a few things for my journals ? " Gabby asked
"Sure, I don't have a problem. Actually you can take my car with you after you drop me off at work and then maybe you can pick me up after my shift" She smiled.
Gabby hurried upstairs and grabbed her bag and her journal and went back down . Her mother was standing by the door waiting patiently and they proceeded towards the car and got inside the car. Gabby had many thoughts in her head and wanted to find answers . She had a good feeling about today but what she didn't know was that when she came back from town nothing was going to be the same.
