I threw the end of my cigarette onto the floor, stomping it out mid stride as I approached the bench. It was 12:55AM when I showed up, and I didn't peg this guy to be the punctual type. And oddly enough, punctual wasn't usually my style. But ever since I've been basically chauffeuring Dollie to school, soccer practice, her friends' houses, and so on, I've learned to be quite punctual to stay up on her busy schedule.
I tried not to sigh aloud as I thought about how tiring my life had become.
I heard the sound of a beer can being kicked across pavement. I looked up to see Dominic's leg in the air as the can flew. It landed a couple yards ahead of me and I pushed it aside as I walked over to his direction.
"Oh!" he exclaimed when he noticed me. "I'm sorry, I hope you haven't been here long. I just went around the corner to take a piss. I've been waiting for quite a bit now."
I actually raised an eyebrow; I was wrong, he was on time after all. And he seemed like he was on speed or something. He spoke so quickly and had such animated body language. Almost like he was a rapper in a music video. And apparently he didn't know when to stop talking.
"I'm really excited, man. I've been waiting for this all day. Should I have worn something different?" He looked down at his appearance and frowned. He was wearing ripped up black skinny jeans that were cropped a just bit short so that his hot pink socks could be visible. He wore chunky black shoes and a plain black shirt with the sleeves cuffed. His hair was, again, disheveled. His pink streaks still visible even in the dim light. He looked...attractive.
I snapped out of it and then the confusion set in. Excited? ...Worn something different? What the heck was he talking about? I was so certain that this was just a hook up. Why else would he want to meet up at this time of night?
"I'm sorry, why exactly are you excited?" I asked. My confusion killed his excitement a bit and he became calmer as I finished walking up to him.
He stopped to finally look me over as I stepped under the glow of the street lamp. I decided to wear my black, high waisted, destroyed skinny jeans with my fishnet tights showing through the tears, a black, tight cropped tee with a thin denim jacket. My trusty docs were on my feet, as usual. My hair was down with my natural wave to it and my makeup minimal with a pop of red lipstick. I blushed for a moment when I realized that we matched and it was actually kind of cute. Why do I keep thinking he's so attractive? This is just a hook up!
"Where's your stuff?" He asked, noticing my lack of purse, I guess? I was so confused as to what he was expecting from me.
"I don't carry stuff." I was used to traveling light when I used to graffiti, it made it easier to disperse in case it was in a restricted situation. Again, I tried not to sigh aloud, this time as I thought about my carelessness of the past.
"Well how are you going to do it without your..." he paused and made a motion as if he was using a spray can. "...your spray paint?"
I grew angry when I realized what he had expected out of me. He thought I was going to tag something for him. Right, that's the other reason why he would want to meet up at this time of night.
I felt like such an idiot, especially because I even thought he was attractive.
"Look, I don't know who you think you are, or what drugs you're on, but I don't do that anymore. Just please don't tell people who I am or that I live here. I would really like to keep my identity private."
Dominic looked hurt. His face was very expressive. "I'm really sorry," he said confidently, "I am just a really big fan of your work and thought we could have some fun together. I've been following you for years, but you stopped posting. And I'm not on drugs, I just have a lot of energy."
