My phone buzzed in the middle of the night, pulling me from my slumber. I checked the clock before grabbing my phone. It was just about to be three in the morning. I had already been asleep for almost six hours, I was still tired but I definitely didn't feel as fatigued as the day before. I grabbed my phone to check it, not thinking much about it.
Unknown Number
Are u awake?
Me
Yes
I didn't have to ask who it was, because I already knew. I tried not to stare at the screen and wait for his reply, but it popped up so fast that I didn't even have time to set my phone down.
Dominic
Aww I knew u'd be sittin round waitin for my text
Danny
Psh you wish. What's up?
This time he didn't reply right away, so I got up and decided to use the bathroom and then head downstairs and get some fresh water. As I was sipping my water, my phone buzzed from where I had set it down on the kitchen island.
Dominic
Come outside
I stared at the message for a good minute, not sure if I was still half asleep or if I was reading his message correctly. Is he actually here? I wondered.
I set my cup down in the sink and went toward the front door. I paused by the large mirror on my way and checked myself - I definitely looked like I had just climbed out of bed, but I didn't look as bad as I thought. I wiped my eyes a bit and tucked some stray hair behind my ears. Just as I opened the front door I heard my phone starting to ring from the kitchen. Dom's back was facing me, his ear to his phone. He quickly turned around when he heard the door open, cancelling the call as he did so. He gave me a warm smile, and I couldn't help but smile in return. He looked the same as I did. He was in comfortable clothes - some loose sweat-shorts and an old band tee. He still managed to have his pink socks on his feet though. I tried not to laugh. Did this guy only own pink socks and no others?
"Hey," I said, my hand on the doorway.
"Hi," he replied.
We stood there for a moment just staring at each other. I knew that if I let him inside I was going to be weak and give in to sex. I knew it wouldn't be the end of the world, but sneaking a boy into the house at three in the morning while my little sister was fast asleep just across the hall didn't seem like something I should make a habit of.
But then again, it's not like I was a teenager anymore. Would it really be so bad if I let him come inside?
Dom seemed to know that I was going through an internal struggle. He remained silent while I debated with myself, until I finally dropped my arm and stepped aside, allowing him to enter. I decided to let him in. For some reason I just couldn't turn him and his pink socks away.
"Okay mister socks, come on in," I said. "We just have to be quiet because Dollie is asleep and we have church in the morning."
He gave me a weird look, a playful smile on his lips. "What did ya call me?" He asked.
"You heard me," I chuckled and I carefully shut the door behind him. "Shall we go to my room?" I asked, my eyebrows raised.
"Nah, let's just like...hang out," he said with a shrug. He walked around the corner and to the living room. He plopped down on the couch and patted the seat next to him. "So this is what you normally sleep in?" He asked, looking at me.
