POV: PETRA

"Peeeeeeettttttrrrraaaaa..."

"Peeeeeeeeeeeettttttttrrrrrrrraaaaa..."

"Come on! Why won't you tell them?"

"Is it because they wouldn't want to be friends with a monster?"

"A monster like YOU?"

I jerked awake.

Wha-how-where am I?  I thought, frantic. Soon enough, though, I realized I was in my old cave. The familiar surroundings helped me relax.

I was still in my wolf form, and would be until morning, so I rose to my paws and shook myself. Glancing outside, I was relieved to see that it was nearly sunrise.

I sat down and scratched at a bug that had made its way into my fur while I'd slept. My fur was pretty dirty, but I'd never had a wolf before, so I had no idea how to groom.

A thought came to mind...

I shuddered. No. I refuse to do that, of all things. I may be half mutt now, but I still have my pride!

My stomach rumbled. Loudly.

Great. I thought in sarcastic annoyance. I miss dinner, and now I can't eat until I'm human again.

Er, mostly human.

I felt a small pinch as another bug bit me, and raised my hindleg to scratch at it. Is it weird that this feeling is strangely satisfying?

Yes. answered the microscopic piece of me that was still sane.

If I was human right now, I would have laughed my head off.

As a wolf, I settled for a snort of amusement.

Suddenly, a warm sensation flooded me.

Light flashed before my eyes, and boom!  I was a human again.

Or, well, a human with the ears and tail of a wolf.

Letting out a sigh of relief, I stood. My tail swished back and forth as I made my way to the chest where I held all my food.

Taking out a loaf of bread, I was about to bite into it when I remembered the last time I had carbs.

Sighing, I set down the bread and took out a raw steak. I'd have to cook it, but waiting was still better than getting sick.

Setting the steak in the furnace and leaving it to cook, I decided to take a walk. It was early, so nobody should be around to see me.

I was dead wrong.

POV: JESSE

"All right, now try using your sword." Dr. Arwin told me.

Nodding, I took out my sword and swung it like I would during a fight.

I gasped as pain flared up my right arm, causing me to accidentally drop the sword. I jumped back to avoid losing any toes.

Jack glanced up from flirting with Dr. Arwin (unsuccessfully, of course) "You okay?" he asked.

I nodded, picking up my sword again-with my left hand this time. "Yeah. I think I need to let my right arm heal, though."

Dr. Arwin nodded, pulling a lock of her long cotton-candy-pink-and-blue hair out of her eyes. "I'd recommend that, actually." said the teenage doctor. "And, hopefully, Lukas will have woken up by the time you've healed."

I snorted. Halfway back to Beacontown, Lukas had fainted. It had been nearly two days since the wolf-attack, so we were all making jokes about him 'sleeping in'.

The door opened, and Axel and Olivia walked in.

I immediately turned to them. "Have you-"

Olivia shook her head.

Everything went dull again.

Thanks to Dragonstar234 for letting me use her OC, Dr. Arwin!
