The sunlight was just fighting its way through the ceiling of clouds when Patton heard the calming sound of the warp pad activating. It had been 5 hours since Amethyst had returned to the depths of his room and he had started to feel a little lonely. "Roman?" he called, placing his Dolphin controller carefully next to the TV. No answer. How strange. Taking a look for himself, he found that it was not, in fact, Roman who warped back in but instead Logan, who was now hovering a dark blue bubble between his hands. "Welcome back!"

"Ah, Patton, there you are." the man commented as the child clambered down the stairs to meet him. He would greet him properly but right now Logan had to concentrate on keeping this artefact contained.

"Ooh... Gem stuff! I wanna see!" the boy chanted, trying to peer into the opaque container.

"Alright but remember... look with your eyes-"

"And not with my hands. I know, don't worry." Inside were 7 little blue chunks of what looked like crystal floating around each other. "What are they?"

Joy flashed across Logan's face. He would finally get the chance to educate Patton on the captivating history of an ancient monument. "Well, you see, I just recovered these from the remnants of the Lunar Sea Spire that suddenly collapsed a few days ago. They used to be part of a mechanism that generated an infinite stream of water for one of the many fountains that used to be found there. Even when I visited it in the past, the Spire was in disrepair and the shards were lost. I had never dreamed that after all my research I would- Patton!"

Having lost interest halfway through the history lesson, Patton snapped out of his dazed state. "Sorry!" his cheeks flushed a bright shade of red. "I guess I got a little distracted."

"It's fine..." Logan lied, "Where's Roman? I thought he might want to see this before I send it off into the temple."

"He left ages ago. It's weird really, he said he'd be back for lunch but he never turned up."

Logan gently tapped the top of the bubble and it lifted up a tad before completely evaporating. "Strange, indeed."

"Oh! I just remembered! Amethyst's gonna have dinner with us!" Logan almost choked on his own breath at such an idea. He had been making more of an effort recently but for such an outstanding step to be made so soon was beyond any of his predictions.

"Astounding. What did you bribe him with?"

"Nothing." Patton swore, "He just... offered? I don't get it either."

Logan often worried about his friend, but Amethyst's absence was somewhat of a custom. Hoping that it might distract him from overthinking it too much like he so often did, he made his way up to the boy's platform to see if his daily cleaning assignment had been completed, with the room's owner following at his heel like a well-trained puppy. Surprisingly, there were very few instances of the organisation errors that he had come to expect from Patton such as him putting his socks in the middle drawer of his dresser when it should clearly be in the top. Looking down at the child's face, Logan's own expression hardened.

"Okay, Patton, Where are they?"

"Where are what?"

There it was. The pink flush of his cheeks that emerged whenever he was hiding something. He had never known Patton to lie but whenever he would "conveniently forget to mention things" his entire face became that strange rosy shade. Logan began to pace in wide circles around the floor, thoughtfully tapping his chin as he paraded along.

"Don't think I'm stupid. The toys."

"Oh. Those." He began to do that nervous laugh that was so heart-melting even Logan couldn't deny it's adorableness.
