"What? Amethyst? Did you see it?" Logan urged, breaking his linear speaking pattern. It was a franticness that Patton had not seen from either of them and it was almost frightening to see.  They both began to march off towards the warp pad with great haste before Logan winced as the flat face of a gem hit the back of his hand. "Patton? What are you doing?" The boy's stance was oddly confrontational when compared to his usual slight cower.

"I'm coming too." His voice lacked the conviction to show just how much he was determined to go but his peers could see it nonetheless. They stopped and looked back at the child for a few seconds. He was shaking with fear, regretting speaking out at all, but his nerve remained strong.

"Patton, you have to understand. Out there, on missions, it's dangerous."

"I know! That's why I have to go! It's not about me going on missions or being strong and all..." By this point, tears were flooding the base of his eyes and every other syllable was stuttered. Logan's stern face melted into a concerned frown. "It's about saving my friend!"

"Amethyst?" Logan sighed dejectedly, looking back at the figure squatting impatiently on the warp pad. "Is this.. safe?" The short gem pondered for a second, massaged the surface of his gem intently, closed his eyes and simply murmured a quiet, "Yes." Hearing his friend assure him of this seemed to settle his worries slightly and pushing away his own objections, he took the boys hand and lead him to join them on their warp. Patton had never used one of these things before but whenever he had watched the gems do it had looked simple enough. Just wait for the blue light and boom, you were in some distant place. However, once the pad activated he found that it wasn't as instantaneous as he had first thought.

There was an initial churning of his stomach as his body adapted to it's new weightless but soon it became an exhilarating experience as the ground was left behind. It was like being in a moving blue tube that is constantly moving around you. Patton felt a slight queasiness but the gems were seemingly perfectly comfortable in this state, as to be expected of someone who had gone through this countless times. Out of curiosity, he stuck his finger out of the edge of the funnel and the light seemed to part around it. A chilling sensation conquered his body, draining it of any warmth it had held moments ago. It almost felt as if little icicles were forming on his fingertips and they could fall off at any moment. Without missing a beat, Logan quickly tugged it back into the safety of the cylinder and gave him a judging stare, "All body parts inside, We don't want bits of you getting lost."

"Sorry," The lightness he had been feeling abruptly erased itself as he found that he was in the solid ground once more. They certainly weren't item the house anymore but instead in a much more tropical environment so packed with plant life that, apart from the safe area formed by warp pad, it was near impossible to move.

From what Patton had read about island jungles they were always described as a big stretching mass of green and wildlife but this particular one seemed to have a slight blue tinge to its leaves. There weren't even as many bugs as Patton would have expected but he decided to look at it as more of a bonus. One thing that was obvious to each party was that Roman had definitely been here leaving evidence of his passing in spades. There were loose vines that must have once formed a wall across the warp pad but had since been cut with one good clean slash that seemed to match the ones he had seen previously from Roman's weapon.

"Woah, How'd you know where he went?" Patton chirped as he hopped onto the damp grass. Amethyst didn't even seem to acknowledge his question but instead opted to simply charge ahead with haste rarely seen from the gem. The entire floor was swamped with wetness the caved with a squelch with every step they took and the boy couldn't help but notice that compared to the story's that the gems fed him this all looked rather dreary. "We're not here for sightseeing, Patton. We're here for Roman." he heard Logan complained as he ushered him onward through a small trail carved through the vegetation so trying his best to manoeuvre through the mud, he pressed on. The atmosphere was quite humid, vastly different from the one of his home, and if he had known ahead of time Patton may have been more reluctant to bring his cardigan. Though it was already quite well lit in the jungle, at then of the path it seemed to open up into a great shining open space to far away to make out, but a relief to see.
