I feel someone shaking me but my neck hurts so bad that I cannot even move.
"Des, wake up," A familiar voice fills the entire room but I groan and deny with my head like a little girl.
"No," I state.
"Your brother has been calling you, he says it's important," Lando states and still with my eyes closed I sit up straight on his couch.
I extend my hand and he places my phone softly on top. I bluntly dial my brother and on the second tone he answers. "What?" I ask.
"Where are you?" He asks.
"Why?"
"Mom needs you home, like right now," He declares and I groan.
"I'll be there," I cut the phone call and throw myself back on the couch.
"What happened?" Lando wonders raising a brow.
"My mom needs me home," I roll my eyes. "So, I'll be out of your way now," I get up and start picking my stuff while he stares at me.
"Do you need a ride?" He asks but I know he is hiding something.
"Where are we stopping during the ride?" I ask back and his cheeks flush. And it clicked, the flowers for the girl. "Oh, I know," I put a fake smile.
"You know?"
I nod with my head not really wanting to repeat it. "Let's go, shall we?"
He gets up from the couch and I notice he is already dressed up. "Want to stop for coffee first?" He questions me as we leave his apartment.
"No," I respond reluctantly and for the first time, he doesn't insist.
The ride to the garden was short and with the radio as background, none of us spoke but our silence wasn't uncomfortable.
"Which were the flowers I am supposed to get her?" He speaks as we approach the door.
"Just pick the ones you think are the prettiest," I reply and he frowns.
"Are you okay?" He asks me worried and confused.
"Of course, why?" I respond with a warm smile.
"Because you are not even looking at the flowers," He replies sternly.
Falling for your best friend is worse than falling for the wrong one. I know that it should be the other way around, but it isn't. You can't fall for your best friend because he's your best friend. And what makes the things worse is that you know deep down that someday you would have to choose between friendship and feelings.
"I'm sorry, I'm just tired," I lie. "Let's pick the flowers that I have to tun back home or my mother will kill me," I joke and I see his lips curving a bit but he stills doesn't believe me.
"Des," He cups my face with his soft hands. "You are my best friend, my human diary and my other half. You mean the world to me and I love you, okay?"
Words won't even leave my mouth so I just nod.
"You can trust me with anything," He adds.
"You can too," I mutter. "Now, let's go," I quickly take his hands off my face and turn around so he can't see how red my cheeks are.
After what it seemed like an hour, we finally picked all the pretty flowers from the garden, pretty flowers for a pretty girl. All this time, he couldn't stop talking about her. While he was going on about her and how amazing she was, I felt a pit in my heart grow more and more with each word he spoke, silently wishing it was me he was talking about with such joy and love. However, my mind finally clicked, why would he like someone like me? It's be truly insane.
"Wow, she must be pretty special then," I say lifting my head to look into his eyes and for a second I saw pure love fill his eyes.
"Yeah," He says, grinning while his hands played with petals of the thistle just like the first time we met, he glances over at me from across the garden, his eyes staring right into mine "She is,"
