Ed finished his call to Oswald that was all that mattered. Now to deal with him.
He stood against the doorway. He looked Ed over, it wasn't a quick look either. The heap of rotting flesh drank the smartest in Gotham in with his eyes. Ed shuttered. He didn't like to think that Oswald, this Oswald, looked him over like meat. As if he were pray.
Edward was pray to the hallucination though. Wether he liked it or not.
The tall, now very lithe, man kept his eyes trained on his threat. The hallucination only began to move once he had sat on the bed, looking away for only a second. The hallucination got close to him, right behind him, almost on top of him. "Oh Eddie~," was purred as he was yanked down into the bed. Painful, dreadfully painful.
Edward screamed out. A scream of fear and hurt and tired and frustration, but most of all sadness. Poor Ed was unbearably sad. He expected no response, but got one anyway.
"Ed?!"
The hallucination faltered. Sure it was still around when Oswald was alive, but in the same room near here? It was a goner. "Ed," the hallucination was saying it as a warning, gravely upset. Ed realized what he needed to do.
He began to scream again. Louder. Longer. The rotting corpse let go of him, scared. To lose everything after such a long time? Foolish. But the atmosphere in the room had changed. Ed's voice was getting harsh, but he was widely smiling. He was no longer prey. But... maybe he would be prey again. The screaming brought nothing. No Oswald, no guards, no GCPD. Nothing.
The hallucination gave a toothy grin after Ed finally had to stop. He slunk up to Ed placing his hands delicately on him. "Oh honey, he's not coming. You're just stuck with lil ol-"
"OSWALD PLEASE HELP ME. OSWALD WHERE ARE YOU?!"
"Edward, my dear, my love, my beauty: that won't work. It hasn't then, why would it now?" The corpse leaned in, cold hands pressing against Ed's shoulders. The corpse's hand became claw like as it lifted, it began to dig into Ed's stomach.
"Edward, I'm here where are you?" came softly from the hallway.
"Don't listen to him, I want you to join me love," the hallucination was digging deeper and deeper. "Please stay with me at the bottom of the river as a reminder. A reminder of what you did, come back to me darling. come back." With that the hallucination faded to smoke. Edward grasped at his wound, blood was rushing out.
He turned around and jiggled the handle for a few moments before opening the door out. He quickly stumbled out. And there he saw Oswald, the real Oswald.

  come back my love
