Words; the misused gift

15 8 7

At times they come cascading out
Without a single pause,
Or a hint of doubt

At times they ring loud and clear
Without room for silence,
Or a single hint of fear

At times they’re just vomited
Unnecessarily,
Pointlessly.

At all the times,
That they don’t matter.

But when they do matter,
When they are most needed,

They come trickling out,
Mostly pauses,
Mostly doubt.

They come squeaking out,
Having to strain your ears,
To even hear.

They are the gift,
That we use wastefully.

They are the gift
That we don’t use,
When necessary.

Mankind’s greatest weapon,
Mankind’s greatest cure,
Mankind’s greatest resource,

That is used the most carelessly.

Words.
