Chris is too fast for me so I have to follow his trail. In the meantime I text Nate to let him know what is going on but he does not reply. I have to do this on my own because there is no way I am texting Luke. I wish I could text Steph. I hear a howl close by meaning I am almost there.

I halt when Chris's back comes into view. He has changed back into human form and he has some piece of cloth around his waist to cover him. Facing Chris, is an old man wearing a black robe and he is holding a large wooden cane. He has long white beard and a few short strands of white hair on his head.

Then I notice Nate and Luke wearing the same kind of cloth Chris has. What is this? What is going on? I hide behind a huge stone. They should be fine on their own. what harm can an old man do?

"Who are you?" Chris asks the old man.

"My name is Gwydion," the old man answers in a hoarse voice. How old is he? He looks about 80 years old. "But what's more important is my purpose."

"What's that?" Luke asks. "And why have you brought us here?"

"And how did you manage to bring us here? And how did you find us?" Nate adds.

"I have my ways to bring you wherever I want and I followed his trail from an abandoned cabin," Gwydion tells Nate while pointing at Chris. Then he turns to Luke. "I came here to find you. I thought your species was extinct. Thankfully, I was wrong."

"How did you know about us?" Chris asks.

The old man laughs at Chris's question.

"What's so funny?" Luke intervenes.

Gwydion stop laughing and looks at each one of them before he slowly replies, "It is I who created your species."

"You?" Luke asks in disbelief. "You're just an old man." Luke laughs but not for too long.

Gwydion waves him wooden cane at look and turns him into a wolf again. Luke whines and Gwydion changes him back to a human. This old man is not to be messed with.

"You were saying," Gwydion tells him with a wicked smile.

"Nothing," Luke says stepping backward. "What are you?"

"I'm a wizard and I created your very first kind in Canada many years ago."

"Pardon me for asking, but... how old are you?" Chris asks. I smile proudly at how politely he asks that question.

Gwydion chuckles. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

"Why are you here?" Nate asks stepping forward.

"I lost the ability to create more werewolves when I lost my emerald stone in a cave in Canada. I came here for your help."

"Why don't you get it yourself?" Luke asks. Why is he being so rude? Especially to a wizard who can turn him into anything in a second.

"I cannot find it. You, however, can sense its presence."

"What do we get in return?" Luke asks.

"The creation of more of your kind."

"Are you kidding?" Chris asks. "We don't want more of our kind. It's already hard to live our lives as normal as possible. We do not need the burden of training more werewolves."

"I can train them myself," Gwydion offers.

"No way. Not going to happen," Luke tells him.

I agree with them. We do not need more werewolves running around.

"I would like to help," Nate offers. Noooooo! What is he doing? Is he going crazy?

"I won't let you," Chris intervenes.

Nate truns to Chris with a pleading look in his eyes. "I know how hard it was for me to learn how to be in control, but this is our kind we're talking about."

Luke look at Gwydion straight in the eyes and says, "You know there is another way of creating werewolves, right? Without magic I mean."

"That does not create a pure werewolf. It is not the same thing," Gwydion answers. "A werewolf that is turned by another werewolf can never have a werewolf as an offspring. It is not in his genes."

It suddenly hits me that if I have a future with Chris, we might have a baby werewolf. I do not know how I feel about that. What does Chris think about it?

"I am doing this with or without you," Nate insists.

"I cannot leave you on your own," Chris tells him.

"I'm still out," Luke states and starts walking away.

"Very well then," Gwydion says in an authoritative voice. "Meet me here tomorrow at the same time. Pack whatever you might need."

I cannot believe Chris decided to go but I understand how he feels the need to watch over Nate. They have become so close. The wizard disappears and Chris offers Nate a ride with us and he accepts.
