WELCOME TO NEW YORK

If only Frank Sinatra was right about New York, one thing that Chaeyoung would be grateful for today was just the sunny weather. Overlooking the horizon from the 19th floor of her hotel room, she could only see buildings and more skyscrapers scattered around the city. Her eyes squinted a little at the sudden contact of the sun, not really happy for the burn it caused.

Her interest darted along the main road of New York, the overly famous fifth avenue. Blocks and blocks of buildings stood tall and powerful in all of its glory. Rigorous honks of traffic maintained its full blast in the rush hour of the most passionate city in the world. She thought she should really take notes what the city would offer if she decided to stroll along the pathway of miniature heaven on earth. aka the heart of capitalism.

"Hey, Lisa! You got your camera with you, right?" she shouted at Lisa who was just returning back from the gym. Lisa glanced at her back, wondering how she can sense her arrival without turning her head. "Yup, had it stored in my bag. Why?"

Chaeyoung turned to her. Lisa dusted off the leftover dried sweat and grimaced when she smelled the towel. Chaeyoung shrugged, "Be quick. We might not be able to chase the double-decker bus if you take more than an hour to finish everything."

Lisa gaped at her, "Oi! You literally the one who snoozed my alarm, knowing well that I want to exercise first. It's your fault, idiot."

Chaeyoung faked her gasp, hands pressed lightly on her chest, "How could you say that to a person who cooked brekkie for you?" She laughed at her sneer after, her childhood best friend is just so easy to annoy in the morning.

"For once, Roseanne, I'll let you win since it's your first time in New York. I'll be ready in thirty minutes," she almost closed the bathroom door before half-shouting, "And! Can you pack one bottle of water and one bottle of infused water? I kind of forgot to make it last night. I'm thirsty. Thanks!"

Chaeyoung shook her head at the girl's antics, knowing so damn well that she would occupy the bathroom for more than what she promised. She ignored the fact that Lisa called her by her English name, which Lisa knew all too well that it would annoy her. She slightly looked over the window again, sensing something in the air, but nothing were made out of her head. She sighed, hoping that the tour bus will not leave them on this over-crowded city.

Lisa was true to her words. She nearly missed out the counts of thirty minutes and only losing another fifteen minutes to complete her look. "Ready?" she asked.

"More than you could imagine," Chaeyoung mused and quickly ran off to the lift.

The sun was piercing their skin the seconds they got out of the hotel. They didn't expect that the weather would be too hot to endure and they couldn't be patient for the double-decker bus. They walked ahead for two blocks east and found the nearest bus stop. "I should've brought my mini fan and umbrella if the weather is burning my skin like this. The SPF doesn't even work at this rate," her reaction only made Chaeyoung chuckled.

"Maybe if you just tried going out more often. You're too caught up watching those Korean drama. Remind me again to get you off from your beloved Gong Yoo." She laughed to herself not noticing the sullen look in the younger's face.

"Hey! Watch your mouth or I won't treat you a bowl of pho and tom yum. You might also lose that favorite shrimp rolls of yours." That made Chaeyoung clamped her mouth. She cursed under her breath and imitated a zipper.
