Jin's pov*

I stood at the kitchen counter, trying to focus on chopping onions, but my hands wouldn't stop shaking. Cooking usually calmed me down, but tonight? Nothing could soothe the storm raging inside me. Not even the distraction of preparing a meal for Jimin's perpetually hungry—and perpetually lazy—self.

The knife slipped, and I narrowly avoided nicking my finger. A dark shadow loomed behind me, and familiar hands slid around my waist. I didn't even need to look to know it was Namjoon. But instead of relaxing, his touch only made the knot in my chest tighter.

"Baby, are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft with concern.

I dropped the knife and turned to face him, my eyes wet with unshed tears. "Honestly? No. I can't believe Taehyung kept something like this from us. All those years, I thought he was taking good care of her..." My voice cracked, and the weight of it all sank deeper into me.

Namjoon's face darkened, his protective side flaring instantly. "It's not okay. If he hurt Jisoo, he's hurting you too. And if he's hurting you..." His jaw tightened, and his voice dropped to a growl. "Then I'll kill him."

"No!" I grabbed his arms, my panic rising. His sharp eyes flicked down to mine, confused and warning at the same time.

"No?" he echoed, his tone low and dangerous. I hated this side of him—cold and ruthless, the Namjoon that so many people feared.

"Jisoo's angry, yes, but I know she still loves him," I pleaded, gripping his arms tighter. "You can't kill him. Please, for me. Don't do it."

Namjoon stared at me, his inner struggle visible in the tension of his jaw and the flicker in his eyes. He hated hearing the word "no" from me, but he always listened. He had to listen.

The silence between us stretched, thick and heavy, until his phone suddenly buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out, glancing at the screen with clear annoyance before giving me a look I knew all too well. My stomach sank.

"Uh, baby, I have some business to attend to," he said, his tone forced casual. "You know how busy I am lately with the mafia and... stuff." The lie rolled off his tongue like water.

I plastered on the same fake reassuring smile I always did. "It's okay. When will you be back?"

"Probably an all-nighter. You know how those lazy assholes are. Takes forever to get anything done." He leaned in, giving me a quick, dismissive kiss on the cheek before heading for the door.

"Bye..." My voice came out weak and broken as the door clicked shut behind him.

I stood there for a long moment, staring at nothing. The tears I'd been holding back finally spilled over, sliding down my cheeks as my chest ached. I didn't know why Namjoon was cheating. I didn't even know who it was with. But I knew it wasn't just a fling—it was something more. Something that made him look at me like I was a chore he had to deal with instead of the person he'd promised to love.
