Sherlock had pulled the van over to the side if the road and went to his mind palace as me and John attempted to wake up Tom.
"Wake up Mr.Hiddleston!" John said, shaking him.
"Wake up Tom!" I said with him.
His eyes blinked open tiredly and he pulled me into the same blanket wrapping his arms around me tightly.
"You're supposed to wake up not make me sleepy too." I giggled.
"Mm...whatever." He said snuggling into my shoulder.
I yawned and shut my eyes.
"Oh wow." John snorted. He was clearly pissed off.
"I'm sorry John...I can't help it when I'm this comfy!"
"You guys..." Sherlock said, frustrated.
"What's wrong?" All three of us asked.
"I couldn't find anything to help us in my mind palace." He said with a sigh.
"Maybe we can ask so someone?" Tom suggested, sitting up.
"Mm...that could work...but nobody lives here, and this road is completely abandoned and empty." Sherlock said.
"Isn't there a farm house over there?" I said, getting up and gesturing towards the window.
"It's a bit far a walk isn't it?" John said.
"It's all we've got." Sherlock said.
"Are we all going?" Tom asked.
We all did as we were told and were out of the van.
"So...now what?" I asked, looking over to Sherlock, as we stood in front of the huge cornfield that was separating the farmhouse from us.
"Now, my sugar, we will walk through this cornfield to the house." He said stroking my hair,
I smiled and nodded.
He turned on his flashlight, and walked into the cornfield, as John, Tom and I followed behind.
"It's dark..." John whispered.
"Obviously." Sherlock said.
We had been walking for a good five minutes, when we all heard a shuffle in the corn plants beside me.
"G-Guys..." I said quietly, my heart pounding.
"If it's about that shuffle...yes we heard it too,be very very quiet." Sherlock whispered.
"Could it be...the killer?" Tom whispered.
"Let's hope not..." John whispered back.
We all stood and watched the area that the shuffle noise had come from, and saw a bit of it start to come out of the grass.
"Run!" Sherlock yelled and we all sprinted away, not knowing what direction we were going, and we all got separated.
After running away I stopped I catch my breath, knowing I had lost whoever it was that was chasing us, but had only now noticed that I was lost, alone, in a freaking cornfield, late into the night.
"Sherlock?! John?! Tom?!" I yelled out, but got no reply.
I calmed down and continued on by myself, not being able to see as well, for Sherlock was the only one with the flashlight.
"Sherlock! John! Tom! Please!" I called out again, receiving the result of no answer.
After walking for a couple of more minutes I saw an abandoned lodge.
It looked different from the house we were going to, but maybe they were in there.
I opened the unlocked door and walked in, seeing an empty room with nobody inside.
"Ugh..." I groaned in disappointment.
I slumped down with my back against a wall and sighed.
I pulled out my phone, but there was no signal.
Where could they have gone?
I left the lodge, and made my way back into the cornfield, having some sort of hope that I would find them.
"Guys!" I yelled out once more.
I heard a shuffle shortly afterwards.
I put my hands over my mouth and backed away, not knowing what direction the shuffling noise had come from.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and screamed, while jumping in surprise.
I closed my eyes tightly bracing myself for what had found me.
"Relax...it's just me." I heard Sherlock's voice say as he held onto my arms.
I opened my eyes to see his flawless facial features.
"Sherlock!" I said, as I hugged him tightly.
"Are you alright, my cupcake?" He asked, stroking my hair.
Cupcake?
"I'm fine, really. But...where are the others?" I asked, looking behind him, hoping to see an angry John, and a Tom, smiling.
I flashed my phone's light on his neck.
I inhaled his scent as well...he smelled different than usual.
"I don't know...I haven't found them yet..." He sighed pulling away and taking my hand.
"Oh..." I said with a sigh as well, turning off my phone quickly.
"We can't give up yet, though." He said with an assuring smile.
"You're right." I said smiling back, fakely.
We walked ahead, and I stuck behind him.
Sherlock never called me cupcake. My nickname from him is sugar.
He doesn't smell like sweet coffee and tobacco ash like he usually does...he smells like...candy now.
He never smiles like that either especially not to assure anyone. Merely because he doesn't try to assure anyone. He's a sociopath. Since when did he give a damn about assuring an individual?
Besides myself, he would know when I needed an assuring smile, and if it really was him, he wouldn't put on that smile at the moment.
This wasn't Sherlock. I know it wasn't. No matter how much he looked exactly like him.
There was one very very vital thing that gave it away for me the most though.
This morning, as we were kissing before heading for the road...
I drew a very small heart on his neck with permanent marker.
He knew it was there, and i had drawn it.
I know he knew that.
I also knew that he left it there on his neck on purpose.
But the Sherlock I had just hugged...didn't seem to have that heart on his neck.
It wasn't there anymore, when I hugged him a few minutes ago...I had checked.
I didn't need the flashlight to see it not being there, because I used my phone's light, even though it had very few battery left.
This man looked like Sherlock, but it wasn't the real him.
I need to be careful.
