Emma's POV.

"A shadow grows on the wall behind you... swallowing you in darkness... it is almost here..."

We lean in.

"What is it?"

"What if it's the Demogorgon? We're in deep shit if it's the Demogorgon-"

I roll my eyes.

"It's not the Demogorgon-"

"An army of Troglodytes charge into the chamber! Their tails drum the floor. Boom!Boom! Boom!"

"Troglodytes?!"

"Toldja."

"Pfff."

Mike looked over his shoulder.

"Wait... do you hear that? Boom! Boom! BOOM! That sound... it didn't come from the Troglodytes. No. It came from something else..."

"THE DEMOGORGON."

We all stare.

"Aww... Man!"

"We're in deep shit."

I laugh.

"Will, your action."

"I-I don't know!"

"Fireball him!"

"I'd have to roll thirteen or higher!"

"Too risky. Cast a protection spell!"

"Don't be a wimp! Fireball him!"

"Protection spell!"

"The Demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering. It stomps toward you. BOOM!"

"Ugh! I'm  tired of your silly human bickering! Shut up and let the boy roll, dammit!"

They go quiet.

"Another step. BOOM!"

"It roars in anger!"

"And..."

"FIREBALL!"

The dice roll off the table.

"What is it?!"

"I don't know!"

We all scramble to find the dice.

"Is it a thirteen?"

"I DON'T KNOW!"

Ms. Wheeler tells us that it's time for us to go.

I start to go upstairs and see the dice.

"I found it! It's a seven!"

I go upstairs and I wait for my brother to come up.

I wait for five minutes and then I go to the doorway.

"Dustin! Come on, we need to leave!"

"Okay, okay! I'm coming! Jeez!"

He comes up and Will follows.

Will's POV.

Ms. Wheeler tells us to leave. Emma goes upstairs.

"Dude, What are you waiting for? Just tell her already!"

"Come on, man! She's my sister! I can't keep this a secret much longer!"

"You have to tell her, Will. She needs to know."

"I - I... I can't! It might ruin our friendship! I can't let that happen!"

Emma comes back to the doorway.

"Dustin! Come on, we need to leave!"

"Okay, okay! I'm coming! Jeez!"

I follow him upstairs.

We get on our bikes.

"Race ya to my place? Winner gets a comic!"

"Any  comic?"

"Yeah."

"Oh, You're on!"

I heard Emma chuckling. I pedaled even faster, and I won.

"I call X-men 134!"

"Man..."

Once I got to the trail leading to my house, I slowed down and started to walk.

Maybe I should tell her.

But, no! No! It'll ruin our friendship! What if she doesn't feel the same towards me?! She might never talk to me again! I can't let that happen!

I get home and go to my room.

You know what?

I take off my shoes, grab my walkie talkie, got on my bed, and pulled the antennae up.

Screw it. I'm going to tell her tomorrow after school.
