We open up to Sheriff Jeremy Crane as he sits alone in his black desk chair reading former crime scene reports from a past unsolved murder. He mutters to himself "If I could just find the missing link, the case would be solved. Why was this woman murdered?".
Just then, a deputy named Anthony Martinez knocks on the door. Jeremy tells him to open it an come in. Anthony asks Jeremy what he needed. Jeremy asks Anthony for a pair of fresh eyes, somebody who hasn't yet been involved in this investigation. He signals for Anthony to come over to him, which he does.
Anthony sees the crime scene photos and becomes shocked. He asks "Why the hell would somebody bash this poor girl's head in, take her teeth and then burn off her finger prints? That's awful!". Jeremy reveals that removal of the fingerprints and teeth is a way of making a victim harder to identify. Anthony asks if anybody ever came forward to identify her, or if anybody ever filed a missing person's report. Jeremy confirms that there was. A lady named Janet Bennett came forward and identified her as her own daughter, Charlotte Bennett.
Anthony suggests that maybe Janet could've played a part in it but Jeremy dismisses this suggestion stating "It's not her. She's not our killer. You should've seen the pain in her eyes. I watched the footage of her identifying the body. She completely lost it upon seeing the body. It's hard to fake the way she acted upon seeing her daughter, unless she's the most talented actress to ever exist". Anthony nods.
Suddenly, Jeremy's personal phone rings, with the caller being unknown. He looks at Anthony confused before answering and asking who's calling; it's the killer but he doesn't know that.
"Hello Sheriff Crane, I'd like to report some suspicious activity at the abandoned school on Radley Road. It sounded like somebody was being slaughtered", exclaims Gas Mask. "How did you get this number? Who are you?" asks Jeremy.
"Who I am isn't the issue here and neither his how I got your number. The issue is what lies in the abandoned school" Gas Mask replies before hanging up.
Anthony asks Jeremy about the call. Jeremy tells him that they have work to do.
Roughly around thirteen minutes after initially receiving the call from the killer, Jeremy and Anthony pull up in what once was the school car park and get out of the car. Jeremy looks around and sees nothing but rot and destruction. He asks himself "Why on Earth did Iris (the Mayor of Waldenwood) not allow for this shit heap to be demolished when she had the chance?".
Anthony asks Jeremy if he was talking to him. Jeremy shakes his head and tells his deputy that "I tend to ask myself questions externally instead of internally. Think of it as speaking before I think, if you wish". Anthony nods his head.
As the two of them walk closer to the school, Anthony points out a blood trail which they decide to follow with guns and torches in each hand.
