"So we've concluded that they're innocent?" Ivy confirmed, typing the contents of the meeting down. "Alpha Maya and Alpha Lucio had explained their reasoning, which The New Dawn Pack completely agree upon. However, the people in question will continue to live as potential suspects until the demon is found."
I nodded at her closing statement. Ever since Satanevos and his son, Erebus, also known as Darkness, had attacked my uncle's pack to hunt my mother down, every werewolf in the US had been well aware of demons' existence.
It had taken almost the entire day explain my reasoning for their innocence. Kyle, in particular, was asking the most tough questions, not willing to let potential murder suspects go easily. In the end, he was finally convinced enough to vote for their innocence.
Kyle's ability to harshly interrogate was one of his strongest points, I could count on him to ensure that I made a fully informed decision. He was truly a precious, valuable co-leader.
The meeting was dismissed, and everyone headed out to enjoy the rest of their day. Lucio came up behind me, startling me with his swiftness. I turned around to meet his gaze, meeting his intense gaze head on.
"Can we talk?"
I was surprised by his request, but nodded nonetheless. Thankfully, my schedule was cleared for the rest of the day. I followed him to the closest patio, my gaze admiring his wide shoulders. He wore a smart white shirt, tucked into black slacks that fit him perfectly.
His figure was the epitome of a fit male.
He had rolled up his sleeves to his elbows, and had the top two buttons unbuttoned. I've seen him in this get up twice now, and admittedly, I found it...hot.
I felt my werewolf chuckle with amusement at the back of my mind, making me blush in embarrassment. I forced myself to look away from him, breathing steadily, to gather my thoughts.
Calm yourself.
He sat down on one of the large, comfy chairs, offering me to sit on the identical one beside him. His observant eyes spotted my flushed cheeks and flustered expression I couldn't hide in time.
"Maya?" He called out with a frown, holding a hand out. "The meeting was pretty intense, right?"
The meeting?
"Yeah." I responded firmly, going along with it. His hand was still extended towards me, patiently waiting for me to take it. Ignoring the increase in rate of my heart, I calmly accepted his hand and sat down beside him.
A pleased smile split across his handsome face, before disappearing as quickly as it appeared.
"What did you want to talk about?" I asked him, adjusting myself on the seat.
"Can your mother exorcise demons or something?" He questioned seriously, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. "That's what it seemed like anyway."
"Oh, really?" I retorted with a nod, avoiding the question.
"Yeah, so can she?"
"Honestly, I'm not really sure." I told him with a shrug. It was true that I didn't know too much about my mother's demons ability.
The only reason why I wasn't telling him about The Light Gene, was because I had to be one hundred percent sure that he was on my side. I was still wary about the man behind the scenes, who seemed to have a considerable amount of influence over Lucio.
Once I was sure Lucio was not a threat to me, I will be completely honest.
"You're avoiding the question."
