Little John Lennon was just an ordinary young peasant. His family may not have had a lot of money, but they managed. His mother, Julia worked with the cattle, providing milk to sell and calves for John's company. But even though she felt that things were fine, John didn't think the same way."Can't we tell the king to provide us with the money we need? He's super rich and flaunts his pounds around like it's nothing, I'm sure he can cut some poor peasants some slack." He said one day.
"I would like to.. But he's the king, and he says that all the riches he gains from our taxes go towards keeping us safe from the dragons."
"What have they ever done? We haven't seen a dragon yet."
"Well then they must be doing a very good job driving them away.. Are you saying they might not be near us anymore?"
"I need to see a dragon with my own eyes before I decide whether they're evil or not." John grumbled.
"I suppose.. But better safe than sorry right?"
John was about to respond when he found a note in their mailbox. "Hm, the king wants me to train as a knight.."
"Ah, he must be looking for more new recruits. You'll be the best knight there is."
"I'm only fifteen Ma, it'll take me two or three years to join in."
"Well, that means you get time to think on what you'd like to do. And I'm sure knights get a very hefty pay, you can support us both. Things haven't been the same-"
"Dad was a knight too, and he went rogue. According to our king that is, but there must be something he's not telling us.."
Up in his room, John looked over at the note, thinking about what he should do.
I guess this could be a chance to meet some new people, probably see for myself how bad those dragons are, not to mention be able to afford some real food for once. I'll take the job.
As much as I'd love to get some more money, I can't do this, I don't trust that Albert, he's no king to me. I'll go on my own quest to find the truth.
