As the cab came to a halt, almost missing the stop. Most likely due to the poor driving skills of the diver. Nathan was moved forward by the stopping motion, bumping his head off the seat infront of him as he looked to the cab driver with a scowl. As he got out of the cab he moved to the trunk to grab a few suitcases and bags he'd brought with him. As he paid the cab driver he stood left on the side walk 'This is it..' he thought as he turned to look at the building before him.
The building was seventeen stories high, and very intimidating to the boy. As he took a deep breathe he moved across the side walk, as the sliding doors opened infront of him the lobby looked quite elegant, more prestigious than you might have thought for an apartment. But after all, this is New York. As he walked into the lobby of the apartment complex he pulled his phone from his pocket, as he opened his email from the landlord he looked to see what his apartment number was. "17~7" he sighed as he fit his phone back into the back pocket of his jeans.
As he moved towards the elevators he bumped into another man, "Oh, my apologies, I did not see you there" he said as he looked to the man, he looked shocked but in a moment it changed to a playful smile "Oh don't worry about it" he chuckled as he eyes Nathan "Say- Are you moving in?" He asked as he noticed the suitcases Nathan had with him as he struggled to get them into the elevator. With the man's help they managed to fit them all into the elevator "What floor?" The man asked as he looked to Nathan, "Oh, um... 17~7" he said as he said as he organized his bags so he could get them off easier than they'd gotten on.
"Ah yes, right up at the top" the man chuckled "Im on that level, apartment 18, should you need anything just knock" he said with a warming smile as he hit the button marked '17'. "My name's Colt, Colt Lowell, and yourself?" He asked as he leaned himself up against the wall of he elevator as it began to ascend. "Oh, My name is Nathan, Nathan Lander" he said as he shifted with a strap of the bag on his back. "well it's a pleasure to meet your Nathan Lander" Colt said as he stuck out his well built muscular hand. As Nathan looked at it hesitant for a moment he admired the strong hand as he stretched out his own to clasp it, giving the man his best strong handshake "As to you, Colt Lowell" Nathan said with a bit of a smirk.
As the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened, Nathan moved to get his bags off the elevator before the doors decided to shut on them. Colt helped to remove the bags as he pointed down the right side of the hallway, as the rooms were split in half, one to ten were down the right hall of the elevator, the apartments eleven to twenty down the left. "That way will be room seven for you" he said with a smile and wave as he left down the left hall towards his apartment.
Nathan let out a sigh as he made his way down the hallway "Nine, eight... Seven, here we are" he said as he fumbled a key from his pocket unlocking the door, as he opened it the smell of cleaning supplies and stare smoke wafted and hit his nose, they must have tried to thoroughly clean the apartment when the last tenant moved out. As Nathan walked in, assembling his bags inside his door he began to take a look around. It was quite a nice apartment.. fully furnished and modern, quite nice furniture and appliances, he couldn't believe he was able to afford this- well. With his brother help of course. His older brother helping him out with rent until he could be safely on his own two feet.
As Nathan looked around he inspected the kitchen that opened up the to living room, the counters and drawers, the number of cupboards and appliances provided with the apartment. Nathan began to take a deep breathe and sigh as he leaned again the counter, the counter coming up to about his tailbone, lower back area, he couldnt believe that he had a place of his own, a door he could lock at night, not sleeping on a cot next to another homeless man who reaked, he didn't mind the stale cigarette smell, he'd witnessed alot worse. "I could get a candle.. or two.. or however many I wanted" he said with a smile, he had a safe place to live finally. As he had finished in the kitchen and living room checking things out, he moved to the bedroom, flopping down the the bed. The room wasn't very big, but how big did it really need to be, just to sleep. The bed was warm and comfy, he didn't want to ever leave it, as he sat up he looked out the large window of the city and the streets below, being up on the seventeenth floor was much higher than he ever thought to be. His stomach felt abit nauseous from the hight, he moved away from the window and began to look threw his drawers and dresser.
As he moved on to the bathroom, his eyes widened, he'd never seen a place so clear, though he was suprised at how nice and clean the apartment was, the bathroom was the cherry on top. His hand touched the sink as he walked in examining the small room, his fingers tapping along it as he turned to face himself in the mirror. As he looked at himself he sighed as he could see the feminine features on himself. He had bits of unkept facial hair he had meant to tend too, but his face still delocite and fragile looking. Before getting to dysforic and upset he moved out of the bathroom, heading towards the front door to get his bags to unpack.
