First off- sorry this wasn't posted on the ninth! With school coming back to kick me in the but, and work buckling me down it's gonna be a bit harder to write, but I'll try my best! Also, last time I checked, this story had tWO THOUSAND READS- what the hell thank you all so much.

Patton should've seen this coming, in all honesty.

For the first time in what seemed like months, his phone dinged next to where his head lay on his pillow. Not a notification for Facebook or Twitter, but a proper and sharp bell indicating that someone texted him. He flipped up the phone, wincing slightly at the bright light illuminating from the screen as it flooded his eyes. Normally the soft golden-hued light would still be flooding his room, but in recent events, the lights had dulled down significantly. It was almost as if the lights reflected Patton's decreasing mental and physical health as he laid nearly rotting in his bedroom. When his eyes finally adjusted to the harsh light of his phone screen, he felt his heart lump up in his throat.

From: Logey-Bear -"Are you alright?"

Patton was off the mattress and pacing around the room in seconds, itching nervously at the gauze and bandages that littered his arms as he stressed. His thumbs twitched over the screen, trying to think of a response that wouldn't be lying to Logan. On top of everything else, he couldn't bear to lie to someone he loved as deeply as Logan. So, Patton took a deep breath and tried to think. Deceit and Remus weren't bombarding him at the moment, so that was an improvement. Yeah, he would go with that. Patton typed 'fine, hbu?' and sent it.

The reply he got in turn told Patton that he really should've seen this coming in hindsight.

"I know you are not of optimal condition, Patton. Please come out of your room where we can discuss this further." Fuck.

Patton was quick to try and shake off Logan's worry, but he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand all spidey-style as Deceit began to manifest back in his room. The once joyful side dove back onto his bed and tucked his phone back beneath his pillow, scrunching it up tight against his features and hoping that the snake that was tormenting him would just go away.

"Patton, dearest?" Deceit purred, strolling over to the mattress. Patton felt his bed dip as Deceit sat down next to him, and he could help how he tensed up so quickly. He'd been so on edge, so tired and so scared, all the time. Deceit ran a gloved hand up and down Patton's back, which did nothing to help his scared demeanor.

"Why so nervous, love? Not hiding anything, are we?" Could Patton mention how much he despised the pet names Deceit called him? Normally he'd be all for nicknames and cute callings, but the ones that spilled from the yellow side's lips made his skin crawl with unease. But, he couldn't let that loose now. Deceit couldn't know he still had his phone, his messages, anything. He'd been super clear on his rules with communications with the others.

"N-no" Patton stammered, sitting up. Deceit shook his head with a knowing grin, and Patton shrunk into himself.

"Are you lying to me, Patton?"

"No! I w-wouldn't, couldn't-" Patton was cut off by Deceit grabbing his face harshly, tugging him closer to the snake. Patton cried out in alarm, eyes flying wide and hands to Deceit's chest to try and push him away.

"I think you've forgotten who I am." He growled, and Patton could've sworn he smelled poison on his breath. "My entire existence is being dishonest. I can tell when someone's stealing my trait."

He removed his hand from Patton's face and stood, giving the other to rub at the already bruising marks on his freckled skin. He thrusted a mug into Patton's line of sight.

"Drink." He growled. "And never lie to me again. I will know."

Deceit sunk down, presumably to his own room, and Patton looked down to what looked like a mug of water. He felt tears stream down his face, the pain and guilt bubbling in his chest. Why did he feel so guilty? He hadn't done anything wrong,

right?

Patton pressed his lips to the ceramic and drank, the water having the same strange aftertaste to Deceit's breath.

He felt dizzy.

He probably should've seen this coming.
