Krystens POV
"HEY KOHANA? I CALLED THE PRESIDENT WERE ALLOWED!" I shouted excitedly.
I should explain.
Kohana is my twin sister. The only differences between us is 30 seconds and I have lighter hair. She has chocolate brown hair and caramel eyes. I have dirty blonde hair and eyes of the same colour. I went out in the sun more whilst Kohana preferred to stay inside the training centre and throw endless spears at targets.
The spear is her main weapon. Mine is the machete. But besides from that we both like throwing knives.
We are sly, cunning, rude, strong, determined, stealthy and very sarcastic. We take after our father (not in personality, with looks) and our brother, Kieran, Takes after our mother (both ways.)
We sent a letter to President Snow the other day, asking for permission for us both to enter the games, one or the other taking a boys space, and if, perhaps we are the only two left, we win.
And so he accepted.
It is the early hours before the reaping. It starts at 7am and it's 5am at the moment. Kohana is in the bathroom, and I'm in our room. We are getting ready for our last training session. We finished dressing at the same time and nodded at each other. I'm proud of Kohana. She always used to be so timid, so terrified of the games, but, with a little training, she's grown out of it, luckily.
We told our parents we were leaving, and locked the door. We started chatting about Clove.
Clove was the victor of one of the previous games, and is our idol, as well as our instructor. She will mentor us this year so we won't go hungry for facts. I'm just glad we know for definite that we are tributes this year.
Inside the centre, we decided to try something new. I suggested the bow, knowing that was what she was thinking. We headed over there and grabbed bows and slung sheaths over our shoulders. At the same time we both slotted arrows into place and pulled the strings back. We took one breath and shot. Both in the same place. The middle.
I let Kohana lead me to the spears. It used to be my main weapon, until I discovered machetes. After a hour or so I had taught her my main weapon.
We got home in time for the feast. It was gorgeous. All the best of things were sitting on the plates. We finished the whole of it.
We took turns in the shower. We then helped each other choose reaping clothes. I thought of all the disappointed faces there would be when our districts escort, Valerie Lilac, announced the tributes had already been chosen. I grinned, and saw Kohana had thought the same thing.
I wore a light green denim dress, and pearl white flip flops. I hated this dress, but when me and Kohana were picking, mother came in with a new outfit for me.
Kohana fought back, and she was allowed the clothes she wanted. I was impressed.
She wore a gray long sleeved blouse and a black swaying skirt. She also wore my old red Mary-Janes, which, even though they were quite girly, she loved.
Our mother and father kissed us goodbye, and we were out the door, well, almost, until they gave us money. We questioned this and they told us we had time to buy tokens.
We waved bye and closed the door.
