Kristen's POV
We walked along the path, looking into shop windows to see what was in there. Kohana suddenly stopped at a window, and I looked in.
Hundreds of pins and jewellery items were spread neatly upon shelves. Necklaces and bracelets were piled upon plates and each of which had a price tag on.
We opened the door. Standing inside, looking around, was Valerie.
She beamed at us. "Oh! You're this years tributes, aren't you? Oh I'm so pleased to meet you!" She smiled.
She and Kohana chatted for a few minutes, whilst I looked at all the pins.
My eyes fell across one with two machetes crossed over, covered in vines and roses came off it. I called Kohana over and she smiled at it. I bought it.
Kohana got a wooden ring saying 'Cariad'. We learnt geography and 'Cariad' means love in a place called Wales. By the word Cariad it has a heart. She just seemed 'attached' to it, apparently.
Suddenly the gongs sound, and we are told to get out of the shop. Valerie used the back enter acne for the 'Hall Of Justice' whilst we got into line. Me first, Kohana second.
It was really exciting. Kohana looked up at me and squealed.
When we were waiting Valerie came out.
"Welcome Everyone! Welcome! Welcome to the 83rd Annual Hunger Games!" She chattered on and then a video played.
"This year the tributes have already been picked! A girl is taking a boys place, and these tributes will try to win together!"
She walked over to the first bowl, pulling out the only slip in there.
"KRYSTEN ASQUITH!"
I let go of Kohanas hand, smirked, and strode up to the stage.
"Good Good!" Valerie beamed.
She then walked over to the other bowl, and pulled out the again only slip there.
"KOHANA ASQUITH!" A few seconds later she was up at the stage.
Everyone cheered and clapped for us, and we were out.
