While all of our furniture was in the process of being loaded into our new apartment, Leanna and I decided to go to the local department store in search for some school supplies. I had seen the small store as Rose, my dad and I passed through town. It was just a little white building with light blue shutters, and a quaint vibe.

Considering how close Leanna and I were to town, we decided to walk. It was almost September so weather had started to cool down a bit, but just barely. Needless to say, it was hot.

After about five minutes of walking, we had reached town. It was small to say the least. And yet the streets were filled with people, none of them stopping for to spare Leanna and I a glance.

As we made our way to the little store in the distance, we spoke about how we were going to survive school this year.

It was about two minutes later when we arrived at the store. When we walked in, there was a light jingle from the bell above. Leanna and I quickly made our way towards the back and grabbed as many supplies as we could find. I particularly liked the feathery pens, with springs and little plastic bears at the end. I'm a stickler for anything 'grade three and up.'

Once Leanna and I had all of our stuff, we made our way to the cash. The lady sitting behind the huge table had to be in her late sixties, and boy was she lovely.

As we left she wished us good luck and even gave me a hug.

When Leanna and I arrived back at the apartment, to say we were amazed would be an understatement. All new white furniture was put into place, making the house look superb. It took me all of three seconds to throw my keys into the little bowl resting on a small table in the entrance way and throw myself onto the couch. Although it did take me a moment to throw off the thousands of colourful pillows off before I could truly get comfortable.

I could hear Leanna laughing as I buried my head further into the last remaining pillow.

It was difficult to imagine we'd be starting at a new school in a mere 48 hours.

My last day of summer was spent unpacking my bedroom, along with adding some new personal flairs to our new apartment. I could tell Leanna was absolutely done by the end of the day when she practically dragged herself into her room and flopped onto the bed.

Unlike her though, I was practically bouncing off the walls. What was this new school like? Would we make any friends? Would I have any instant enemy's?

Would there be any overwhelmingly - in your face - cheery people?

I usually had a huge problem with people who were too happy. It was one of my many strange flaws.

If you are someone who smiles more than thirty times a day, and your eyes twitch as you wave at people... you are automatically a serial killer in my eyes. My best guess is that you're one that smiles, and waves as you throw peoples lifeless bodies off of cliffs.

Into shark infested waters.

With sharp rocks.

And killer mermaids.

But I digress.

The ultimate nightmare though is a cliché.  I have seen enough spray tanned barbies in my life to know that if you can use their boobs as a life raft to bring you to safety, or as a tissue dispenser in any struggle you may face, they are not the people you want to surround yourselves with.

Stick with the crazy people.

Not only are they fun, but they don't judge.

These thoughts continued to swarm in my mind until I shuffled into my new room, taking one last look at the absolutely white space, save a couple of colourful pillows on my white canopy bed, before turning the lights out

And yet once I made it to my bed and curled up into my duvet,  it took all of two seconds for me to fall fast asleep.
