Y/n POV

Trigger Warning: Billy's abuse, cursing

I'd been dating Billy Hargrove for over 6 months, and they were the best 6 months of my life. We told each other almost everything. I knew there was something he was keeping from me, he always had bruises or red marks on his face.

"Billy? What happened to your face?" I asked one day when the bruises looked particularly bad. He smirked, "got into a fight, you should see the other guy." I laughed, "you gotta stop getting into so many fights, I hate that someone took a swing at your pretty face." He kissed my cheek, "who knew how flirtatious you could be." "Wow that's a big word for you," I joked, raising an eyebrow at him. He feigned offence, "that was quite uncalled for, princess." I blushed madly and lightly shoved his shoulder. He chuckled and then turned me to face him, "but seriously Y/n, you don't have to worry about me, I'm doing just fine." I nodded, but for some reason... I didn't truly believe him.

Today felt different. Billy didn't show up to school, which wasn't unusual at all. He wasn't exactly known for his great attendance. I just had a bad feeling in my stomach and I couldn't calm my anxiety. I promised myself to check on him tonight, maybe bake him some cookies. He might've had another fight... maybe this time he was really hurt.

School went by so slowly without Billy. I sat at the usual table, but payed no attention to the conversations my friends were having. I stared at his empty seat, it felt wrong. Nobody even noticed, but I felt really sick. I got up and threw my lunch in the trash. I got into my car and drove home. Luckily, my parents weren't home so I didn't have to worry about them finding me ditching school. I made cookies for Billy and as soon as they finished I walked to his house which was only a few blocks away. I snuck up to his bedroom window, I looked in and saw Billy lying in bed. I knocked on the window and he looked at me.

He got up and opened the window then immediately turned away. "Billy... are you okay? I know you ditch a lot... but I felt like this time it was different. Sorry, I was probably being paranoid," you rambled for a bit and saw Billy's shoulders drop. He had no shirt on and you saw the bruises on his back. I almost gasped, but kept my mouth shut, he probably didn't want to talk about it right now. "I.. uh brought cookies," I smiled sheepishly. Billy still hadn't turned back towards me. "Billy... please look at me," my voice sounded desperate, what if I had done something wrong. "Please..." I whimpered helplessly. Billy sighed and turned towards me, he had a black eye and a busted lip that was swollen. I gasped, "Billy! Who did this to you?" He shook his head, "don't worry about that, just drop it okay?" I shook my head and ghosted my fingers over his face, "of course I worry about this, you're my boyfriend and I want to know who hurt you." "I said drop it Y/n," Billy snapped. I nodded, a little startled by his tone. I put the plate of cookies on his dresser, "at least let me take care of you." He looked reluctant, but eventually gave in and nodded. I got the first aid kit that was in the bathroom cabinet. I had helped Max after she fell on the pavement while skateboarding.

I got ice and wrapped it in a towel, I handed it to Billy to put on his eye.

Billy POV

I stared at Y/n as she got the supplies out of the first aid kit. I didn't want her to see me so weak and vulnerable, but I knew she wouldn't tell anyone about how weak I looked. I couldn't tell her it was my dad who did this. She would freak out and tell me to do something, but I could handle it. She put a little disinfecting alcohol on a cotton pad and gently pressed it on my lip, I winced. "Sorry... it's gonna sting," she looked apologetic for accidentally hurting me. That's why I loved her, she cared for me, she was always thinking about me. I... loved her.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of my dad's car pulling up in the driveway. I'd gotten good at telling if his car was pulling up outside of the house. I got up, much to Y/n's dismay, I hid the first aid stuff under my bed and pushed Y/n into the closet. "Don't say anything, just hide, my dad will kill me if he sees you," I said, urgency in my voice. She didn't understand what was happening, but she nodded and hid in the closet. I put the cookies in my dresser drawer. My dad stomped up to my room and slammed the door open, "you skipped school today." I gulped and backed away slowly. "What did we talk about? You know the rules, I didn't raise a son who disrespects the rules," he gripped my wrist tightly and slammed my back against my wall. My throat closed up, "I'm sorry, sir." "Damn right you are!" He screamed and slapped me. I held back tears, "I won't disrespect you again, sir." "You get that shit straight. You better not fall out of line, or you will regret it," my father left my room. It wasn't too bad today. I heard the front door slam and his car pulled away. The office lady must've ratted me out for missing too many days of school.

Y/n POV

I carefully stepped out of the closet and looked at Billy. "Your dad does this..?" I asked weakly, worried he would get angry at me for witnessing that. He just nodded and sat on his bed. I approached him slowly, "why didn't you tell me?" I made sure my voice was soft and not confrontational. That last thing he needed was his girlfriend being angry with him. He shook his head, "you wouldn't accept me, you'd think I'm weak." "God no, Billy you're so brave and strong, I don't know how you deal with this," I said, gently putting my hand on his. He looked at me with tears in his eyes, "stay with me?"

"Always."
