Information on the Anstelians

Species Name: Anstelians

Origins: The Anstelians are a evolved race of homo sapiens, aka Humans. After Earth was in danger of being destroyed a whole country's worth of humans fled to Proxima Centauri b. Unfortunately for them, there were species on the planet that learnt to prey on the humans. However, these species were unable to climb or fly, and to escape danger the humans somehow evolved wings. Their eyes also all became a vivid green, to blend in with foliage. Each Anstelian is unique, with a distinct wing colour and pattern that only they have.

Appearance: A normal human being, but with wings that are capable of carrying the weight of a single human. Wings in Males are considerable bigger, but often have duller colours to compensate for the increased size. The duller colours help reduce visibility when searching for resources. Females have wings that are brightly coloured, and their wings are slimmer, allowing them to fly faster than their male counterparts. On rare occasions a Female can have dull wings. All Anstelians have green eyes, varying in shade and vividness. From the waistdown, they're more birdlike, with feathers appearing on their legs, and their feet are more talon like, to help them perch on surfaces like branches or railings, ect. They're taller than an average human, to provide better vantage points, and they store fat in the base of their wings. They're also slimmer, to use less water.

Physical Adaptations: their bones are stronger than a regular humans, so they can survive falls that would normally fatally injure humans.

Life Expectancy: 90-120 years in males, 100-140 in females. Basically, they've evolved to live longer as well.

Distinct Features/Abilities: Wings, Flight, Green eyes, Ability to communicate with chirps and whistles (like birds), Voice mimicry, Empaths (can sense what others are feeling)

Courtship rituals (whY AM I DOING THIS?): Basically the same as humans, although there are a few more things. It's quite common to see an Anstelian getting someone they 'like' to help preen their wings. They also nest, creating an area in their own home that they think they other would like, so they often end up with a home that is distinct to whomever lives there, and then a area that sticks out, which gives away the fact that they'd been trying to attract someone's attention. Everything else is the same, really.

They, also, have mating seasons that occur during their migration up north, and afterwards. This is because the Kallawe are more scarce up north and so it's a good time to get that sorted.

Defenses: They can fly from danger, and can mimic noises to scare things off. After all, there's always something bigger to prey on the predator. They will, on rare occasions, use their wings to slap something away. They can also puff their feathers up, and then spread their wings right out to make themselves look bigger. Happens more often than you'd think.
